Winding Road Theatre Ensemble

presents

Julius Caesar

OCTOBER 20 - NOVEMBER 5, 2016

Tucson, Arizona – Winding Road Theatre Ensemble is proud to bring William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar to the Tucson stage. Adapted by local playwright Michael Fenlason, this tragic tale of power, conspiracy and revenge will be set in Washington DC and feature an all-female cast.

'It seemed timely that this story is re-told in the context of what we are seeing happen culturally today inside and outside politics', said Susan Arnold, Artistic Director at Winding Road Theatre Ensemble.  'It is a wildly complex and fascinating work, and it was important to us to examine the thematic elements of ultimate ambition through an alternative lens. For us that meant challenging not only how we see what is occurring at the hub of power in DC, but also how the roles of women in this environment are changing dramatically.'

The mission of Winding Road Theatre Ensemble is to tell dynamic, theatrical stories that illuminate the human condition.  'We hope to honor that mission with this production by discovering new layers in Shakespeare's work through a contemporary feminine voice,' said Michael Fenlason, who is also the director of the production.

In a continuing effort to engage youth, WRTE will engage local high school students through matinee performances that will include pre-show study guides and post-show discussions.

Tickets for the event can be purchased online at www.windingroadtheatre.org or 520-401-3626.  The production will run October 20-November 5, 2016 at the Temple of Music and Art Cabaret Theater, 330 S. Scott Avenue, Tucson. Student, Senior and Group rates are available.

WINDING ROAD THEATER ENSEMBLE'S vision is to sustain theater as a viable art form by offering programs that not only inspire and educate, but also challenge us as a theater company to move in tandem with the rest of the world. We ask questions, reach beyond what we know, and we are committed to theater as a vehicle for change.
