Unscrewed House Party 2.0

LIVE from our Speedway stage in Tucson!

Yup, that's right.

After 15 solid months of performing for you from the waist up, we're SO EXCITED to present improv with legs. And pants!

For all of July, we'll be livestreaming shows for FREE from our home in Tucson, AZ - but you can still join us from anywhere.

All the while, we're one step closer to welcoming the laughter of in-person audiences to our home on Speedway Blvd.

In the meantime, we've got a little favor to ask.

See, it's that time of year when Tucsonans get to nominate their favorite places for the next Best of Tucson awards - and we'd be super grateful if you could nominate us in one (or all!) of the following categories:

  • Best Theater Company
  • Best Quarantine Activity - Unscrewed House Party
  • Best place for a kid's party
  • Best fun for the whole family
  • Best Comedian - Your Favorite Cast Member
  • Best Comedy Night

It's easy as pie - just click this link right here and fill in Unscrewed Theater for the above categories - plus a few more of your local favs!

We're eternally grateful for all the support from all our fans and family over this year. And we can't wait to see you all online this month!

🎶 Ten Minutes With Dawn 🎶

Bring on the good vibes - and start your weekend with a smile! It's time for another episode of Ten Minutes with Dawn!

Dawn continues to expand our improv world with a brand new guest every week. This week, we're thrilled to welcome a new face to our stage -  the ever-talented Sheri Flanders!

Sheri is a Chicago-based actor, comedian, writer, and political junkie who teaches at the Second City Training Center. Her performance background includes improv, stand-up, musical theater, commercials, Shakespeare, corporate training, and voice-over work.

She is also a freelance journalist whose work has been featured in several publications, including the Chicago Sun-Times, The Chicago Reader, Rescripted The Chicago Defender, and McSweeney's. In addition, Sheri was invited to cover the Sundance Film Festival two years in a row, which was pretty badass.

Sheri is head writer for Choice the Musical and is the perkier half of the interracial, married, sketch comedy duo FLANDERS. Sheri has been featured on many podcasts speaking about comedy, social justice, and cats. She is represented by NV Talent, holds a bachelor's in Fashion Design and any cat that will let her.

Sheri & Dawn make up a fun, quick scene - and then chat about improv, life, whatever they want!

Catch the fun with Dawn
here on Facebook  - Friday at 10:00 am!

Starting July 11

Special Guest Workshops
With Bianchi & Byland

Experienced instructors (& improvisers themselves!) Elizabeth Byland (AKA EB) and Jenn Bianchi will be teaching THREE workshops that you can take from anywhere!

Each workshop is $45 - or save $$$ by getting the bundle for $120!

Meet your Instructors:

Elizabeth Byland (better known as EB) holds a joint faculty appointment at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va, as the Head of Improv with the School of the Arts and the Director of Applied Health Improv with the Center for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Care. In addition, she serves on the Board of Directors with ComedySportz Richmond. She performs as a company member with Coalition Theatre, the founder of her own non-profit organization called Comedy Connects, and a co-founder of Queen City Comedy as a professional film/television actor.

EB provides a unique opportunity for those of all learning abilities, backgrounds, and experiences to learn, grow, play, and express themselves creatively in a safe and positive environment while utilizing the techniques of improvisation. Elizabeth holds a BFA in Acting from Northern Kentucky University and an MFA in Performing Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design and professional improv training from iO Chicago (levels 1- 5B).

She brings her joyful energy, along with her 12 years of teaching experience and 17 years of performance experience, and a mission to help others reconnect and say "YES" to life!

Currently, she coaches three college improv teams from VCU, and she performs on two duo teams: BABE and Bianchi and Byland. In addition, she's performed at The Tampa Improv Festival, Cape Fear Comedy Fest, Queen City Comedy Experience, North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival, 2nd Best Comedy Fest, Festivus, Miami Improv Festival, Charm City Improv Festival, VB Comedy Fest, Norfolk Comedy Festival, and the Chicago College Improv Tournament, along with performing at regional theaters across the SouthEast.

Jenn Bianchi is an improvisor, educator, and actor based in the Chapel Hill, NC, area.  She performs weekly with The PIT-Chapel Hill in addition to teaching classes and workshops online with The Peoples Improv Theater in New York City. Additionally, she is on faculty and a performer with the Queen City Comedy Global Improv project working with students across the globe.  Jenn is an active member of the Southeastern improv scene for the last decade producing multiple festivals in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill, as well as leading workshops at various improv festivals. She is a winner of the Global Improv Projects 3-on-3 tournament with her all-female team Burnett Brigade as well as the ComedySportz Richmond 2021 Spring Rumble Winner with duo partner Elizabeth Byland on the team Bianchi & Byland.

Sunday, July 11

12-3pm MST/PDT
"It Takes Two," Taught by Bianchi & Byland

It takes two to make a thing go right!  It takes two to make it out of sight!  This workshop, taught by two improv besties, is about bringing your improv duo to the next level through bold and diverse character work, listening and noticing each other's subtleties, and creating a world based on relationships and trust. Have a duo partner? Then sign up together! Looking for a duo partner, then maybe you'll find your improv other half!

Sunday, July 18

12-3pm MST/PDT
"The Improvisor's Playground" Taught by Elizabeth Byland

As of late, improv via Zoom has felt a little stiff, hasn't it? It's okay. We know it's hard to see the zoom square as a virtual playground rather than a virtual cubicle. However, this physical workshop, led by Elizabeth Byland (co-founder of Queen City Comedy, Professor of Improv at Virginia Commonwealth University, and the other half of Bianchi & Byland) will give you a new creative lens on Zoomprov and the playground that surrounds you, whether you're in an office, a bedroom, or a beautiful theatre!

Sunday, July 25

12-3pm MST/PDT
"Listen Like a Thief" Taught by Jenn Bianchi

The best way to get out of your own way is to focus on your partner.  Listen Like a Thief will help you believe in your partner's deal harder than they can.  When we listen with our whole bodies, not just ears, we will pick on subtle cues to find something wonderful right away and heighten established patterns.
