Arizona Theatre Company auditions for: How to make an American Son

Arizona Theatre Company is a LORT C Theatre that operates in two cities: Tucson and Phoenix. Each show in our season rehearses and begins performances at the Temple of Music and Art in Tucson and then transfers to the Herberger Theater in Phoenix to continue its run.

All ethnicities encouraged to audition.

Characters:
MANDO – Male, 40s-50s, Latinx. Charismatic immigrant who is determined to fulfill his idea of the “American Dream”; big-hearted, alpha energy. “the father”
ORLANDO – Male, late teens/early 20s, Latinx. He is as quick witted and charming as he can be biting and aggressive. Reeks of privilege. “the son”
MERCEDES Understudy – Female, 30s-40s, Latinx. Private and professional; with tremendous elegance and intellect. “the help”
RAFAEL Understudy – Male, late teens/early 20s, Latinx. Newcomer with secrets; quiet energy masks hungry soul. “the refugee”
SEAN – Male, late teens/early 20s, White. Typical teenage “bro” with occasional depth that surprises even himself. “the dream”
DICK- Male, 40s-50s, White. A man used to taking up space, born into regard and has never had to think twice about it. “the enemy”
