AN ALMOST HOLY PICTURE

by Heather McDonald

September 8 - October 8, 2022

no show October 1

An Almost Holy Picture employs humor and intellect to explore life's big questions. Samuel, a church groundskeeper, is shaped by three major life experiences, and his affirming story captivates. A Pulitzer Prize nominated play, An Almost Holy Picture has been lauded for its inspiring look at love, loss, ideology and fatherhood.

"I have been drawn to direct An Almost Holy Picture for twenty years - ever since seeing Kevin Bacon bring the play to life at the Roundabout in New York in early 2002. The show is an incredible piece of storytelling, woven with humor and inspiration - highly affirming in nature. It's no accident that I've cast one of the most talented comic actors in Tucson to share this amazing story. We joke in rehearsal that Stephen Frankenfield's performance is '...better than bacon...' because he's using his knack for humor to make the play so much more accessible, relatable and uplifting than the original New York production. I believe LTW audiences will find both the tale and Stephen's approach to telling it beautifully captivating." -Director Sabian Trout
