February 2026 Update

Here's what we've been up to lately.

Recent Filming

Who are those dangerous looking varmints wandering the dusty streets of Mescal in their weathered western wear?

We can't divulge right now, but these NFL celebrities are America's favorite former center, and an equally well-loved nose tackle, both of whom were in our region to shoot a commercial for a brand new brew which will be making a huge splash shortly.

Film Tucson was elated to assist this fun and funky spot which will be airing nationwide, we're told, in March. Dozens of local crew were hired and the visiting production team fell in love with Tucson's breezy vibe. No beer was harmed (or consumed) in the making of this commercial.

Recent Events

If it's a month ending in Y (and sometimes E, H, L, R, and T), you can bet we're bringing in top level professionals from the film industry to be our guests for a few days so they can see what our region has to offer.

Three big-name location folks (all of them spotted in the pics above and below) flew in recently and had a heck of a time viewing Tombstone, an airplane boneyard, Bisbee, epic ranchlands, all four border towns, and Tucson Mountain Park, among many other things.

Collectively, they've worked on such iconic shows as Tenet, One Battle After Another, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, so getting scouts of this caliber to explore the Old Pueblo made us as proud as a curve-billed thrasher (that's Tucson's version of a peacock).

These ongoing series of site visits are the best way to keep southern AZ on the radar of these location experts who will potentially return to Tucson with projects in hand long into the future.

Over 100 filmmakers from around the state were present at Film Tucson's annual presentation to the Arizona Production Association on Thursday, January 29th wherein we (along with all the other film offices around the state) laid out our achievements throughout 2025 and our marketing strategies for 2026.

As shown in the pic above, our Production Manager Monica Lopez is reporting on our incredibly successful networking event held in Mexico City in August 2025 which connected us to several dozen filmmakers south of the border, some of whom have potential projects coming to us soon.

Coming Events

Cinema Tucson, a series of Mexican films screened monthly at the historic Fox Tucson Theatre, (with support from Film Tucson) will be presenting Oca, the atmospheric and mystical debut feature by Karla Badillo, telling the story of Rafaela, a young nun from a dwindling congregation who embarks on a pilgrimage after the arrival of a new archbishop.

Featuring a stellar ensemble cast of professional and non-professional actors, the film offers a quietly critical lens on devotion and institutional life from a distinctly female perspective, tracing the winding path between belief, destiny, and self-discovery.

Director Karla Badillo will be present for an in-person Q&A immediately following this one-time-only screening, so get your tickets now. Visit the website of Cinema Tucson for more information.

Film Mixer

It's the 3rd anniversary of our monthly film mixer where all of southern AZ's crew, actors, and everyone in-between can eat, drink, and network.

Date/Time: Tuesday, February 17th, 2026 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Place: American Eat Co. (1439 S. 4th Ave., Tucson, AZ 85713)
Parking: Ample parking is available.
Cost: It's free! Drinks and food, especially tacos, are available for purchase. The operative word here is "tacos". Say it with me: tacos.

As always, these monthly series of free nighttime film community events are co-hosted
by Film Tucson and the Arizona Production Association.

No need to RSVP--just show up. Look for the Film Tucson banners. Questions? E-mail Monica Lopez at mlopez@visittucson.org
