True Concord presents I Dream a World

TRUE CONCORD VOICES & ORCHESTRA  |  2025–26 SEASON: THE AMERICAN DREAM

I Dream a World

A Choral-Orchestral Concert Experience

Featuring True Concord Choir, Orchestra & Jeffrey Biegel, Piano

THE PROGRAM

Dreams of the Fallen   |   Jake Runestad

A profoundly moving new American masterpiece — and the work that earned True Concord its second GRAMMY nomination — combining solo piano, chorus, and orchestra with powerful texts by Iraq and Afghanistan War veteran and award-winning poet Brian Turner. Runestad’s music explores a soldier’s experience of war and its lasting impact, evoking both the weight of post-traumatic hardship and a vision of compassionate healing.

“And I keep telling myself that if I walk far enough or long enough someday I’ll come out the other side.”  — Brian Turner

Dreaming a World   |   Peter Boyer

A gorgeous and uplifting work drawing on texts from Langston Hughes, Native American prayers, and Walt Whitman, with references to Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy, and Cesar Chavez. Boyer’s music is a celebration of American ideals — equality, diversity, and the enduring dream that all people may live in harmony.

“I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be, and you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be.”  — Martin Luther King Jr.
