Tucson: auditions for "Hats! The Musical,"

Escape Reality Productions, a new company founded by Dea Young-Smith and Lindsey McHugh, the creative team behind this summer's highly successful production of "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" is holding auditions for "Hats! The Musical," a celebration inspired by the Red Hat Society, written by Marcia Milgrom Dodge and Anthony Dodge

 

Characters: Lady - Mid-to-late 70's. Maryanne's mother. Widow and loving grandmother.

                Baroness - age 52, divorcee, corporate success, affluent, from Texas

                Contessa - Late 50's, Hispanic, packed with attitude and a tendency to exaggerate, married.

                Dame - Mid 50's, empty nester, wife and mother of three.

                Duchess - 65, African-American, "big-boned" with sass and ego, great marriage.

                Princess - Late 50's-early 60's, breast cancer survivor, divorcee, absent minded and forever optimistic.

                Maryanne - age 49.999 Teacher, married, struggling with her impending 50th birthday.

 

All ladies that come close to the descriptions are welcome, as we are possibly double casting. Be prepared to sing and read from the script. Have a musical theater song prepared that shows off your vocal range and level of technique and musicianship.

 

Audition dates: Monday and Tuesday, November 14 and 15 at 6:00-9:00 at SAAVI (Southern Arizona Association for the Visually Impaired) 3767 East Grant Road Tucson, AZ 85716, with call backs on Wednesday, November 16. You may attend either evening.

 

Performances dates: January 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29 and February 4, 5
