Learn first-hand how world-class artists make it to the top, what life is like on the road or how to create "magic" on the stage. Provided in collaboration with Broadway in Tucson and UApresents.
This day-long package includes:
• A Behind the Scenes Look at the Production • Workshop • Lunch • Admission to the Show
About the Workshop: Dive in to the lives of the characters of Something Rotten in a fun interactive workshop. Students will put themselves in the shoes of the Bottom brothers as the work in teams to create a 5 -10 minute mini-musical using the plots and characters from some of Shakespeare's greatest hits. Lines, Lyrics, choreography, and music will be written by students as try to out Bard the Bard and learn about the characters from Something Rotten.
About the Production: Set in 1595, this hilarious smash tells the story of Nick and Nigel Bottom, two brothers who are desperate to write a hit play. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world's very first MUSICAL! With its heart on its ruffled sleeve and sequins in its soul, SOMETHING ROTTEN! is "The Producers + Spamalot + The Book of Mormon. Squared!" (New York Magazine).
