The play is presented as a dramatic reading between two characters, Melissa and Andrew. It follows their lives for over 50 years through letters they write to each other. "Love Letters" is rich in humor, poignant moments, and universal truths, about love, ambitions, friendship, and loss. It is presented very simply, with two actors on stage, revealing their hopes, dreams and their relationship through their letters. It has been performed by many of the greatest actors in American theater, from Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, to Colleen Dewhurst and Jason Robards, and most recently, by Mia Farrow and Brian Dennehy and Alan Alda and Candace Bergen. Often times the play is performed by married couples, and tonight's show is no exception. My husband, Bill and I met in theater 45 years ago, when he auditioned for the first play I directed, and we are still working in theatre together.
