Subject: PRESS RELEASE: Play In A Day 2005

Old Pueblo Playwrights announces the upcoming 4th Annual Play In A Day  event Friday/ Saturday, November 4 & 5, 2005 at The Historic Y auditorium, 300 E. University.  Doors open at 7PM with performances at 7:30 PM both nights.  Tickets are $12.00 per person which includes both nights.  There is a discount to $10.00 each for parties of 10 or more.  Contact Autrey at 615-1180 or email TheJunkyardDiva@aol.com for ticket reservations.

Play In A Day is the yearly madcap theatre event where the audience votes on Friday which props must be used in all six plays developed overnight by randomly paired playwrights from Arizona.  They also write lines and the one they vote in must be used as well.  This has produced some hilarious results in years past and this year should be no exception!

We start on Friday with staged readings of 5 short plays written by Old Pueblo Playwrights members and the aforementioned audience input.  We then draw the writer's names from a hat and send them to their rooms to produce 10 minute plays which directors and actors rehearse Saturday and present to the audience as staged readings on Saturday night.  On Saturday, the audience chooses best play and a panel of  judges from Tucson's theatre community choose their favorite.  Both choices are awarded a cash prize.  This is interactive theatre at it's most original.

We attract playwrights from Phoenix to Tubac and Old Pueblo Playwrights is honored to host this Tucson tradition.  Information on the Friday line-up of plays or interview information may be found by contacting Autrey at (520) 615-1180/ TheJunkyardDiva@aol.com.
