The Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus will present its annual CLASSIC CONCERT on Saturday, February 19th, 7:30pm at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 1800 S. Kolb Road.

The program will begin with the Touring Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Julian Ackerley, performing traditional boychoir music representing a wide range of repertoire from choral masters.  Selections by Vivaldi, Constantini and Mozart will be performed along with music of American composers David Childs and Keith Hampton.  Featured in this segment will be Da Hai A Gu Xiang, a popular Chinese folksong, sung in recognition of the Boys Chorus’ upcoming tour to China in July.

The concert will continue with the changed voices of tenors and basses from the Young Men’s Ensemble performing several selections then joining the treble boy voices.  The combined singers will perform Franz Schubert’s Mass in G a noted setting of the Catholic Mass in the early Romantic era style accompanied by a string quartet.  In contrast, the combined choirs will also perform American composer Eric Whitacre’s amusing Animal Crackers.

To conclude the concert, all the members of the Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus including the younger Training Chorus and TowneSingers will join their voices in a grand finale of All Things Bright and Beautiful by John Rutter and Rollo Dilworth’s Rejoice and Sing!  Tickets for the CLASSIC CONCERT are $15.00 each and are available at the Boys Chorus office and at the door.  Call 296-6277 for information.
