BROADWAY IN TUCSON PROUDLY PRESENTS
HELL'S KITCHEN
The Broadway Musical | Music & Lyrics by Alicia Keys
"Thrilling from beginning to end — a rare must-see!"
— The New York Times Critic's Pick
About the Show
Experience where dreams begin. Ali is a 17-year-old girl full of fire — searching for freedom, passion, and her place in the world. Rebellious and stifled by an overprotective single mother, Ali is lost until she meets her mentor: a neighbor who opens her heart and mind to the transformative power of the piano.
Set to the pulsing rhythm of 1990s New York City, Hell's Kitchen is ultimately a love story between a mother and daughter — about finding yourself, your purpose, and the community that lifts you. Come remember where dreams begin.
The music is an extraordinary blend: beloved Alicia Keys classics like "Fallin'," "No One," "Girl on Fire," "If I Ain't Got You," and "Empire State of Mind" — alongside entirely new songs written exclusively for the production. Rearranged and reinterpreted for the theatrical stage, these are songs you know but have never heard quite like this.
A Decade in the Making
The journey to Broadway was itself a love story with the art form. Alicia Keys spent more than thirteen years dreaming, developing, and finding inspiration for a musical rooted in her own formative years growing up in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan. Her first brush with Broadway came in 2011, when she composed original music for Stick Fly — an experience that both captivated her and revealed how underrepresented diverse stories were on the Great White Way.
In June 2023, Keys announced Hell's Kitchen to the world. The musical made its world premiere at The Public Theater in New York — the legendary Off-Broadway institution that launched A Chorus Line and Hamilton — opening on November 19, 2023. Demand was so overwhelming that the run was extended twice, closing January 14, 2024.
The Broadway debut followed at the historic Shubert Theatre — the same house where A Chorus Line ran for sixteen glorious years after its own Public Theater transfer. Previews began March 28, 2024, with an official opening night of April 20, 2024. The Broadway production closed February 22, 2026, after a triumphant near-two-year run.
