THE INVISIBLE THEATRE
Call for Actors
Going IT Alone 2027
By Various Writers
Invisible Theatre • 1400 N. 1st Ave, Tucson, AZ 85719
About the Show
Going IT Alone is the Invisible Theatre’s annual celebration of the actor and the playwright — a unique showcase of original monologues that places a single performer center stage with nothing between them and the audience. Now entering its 7th year, this beloved series draws monologue submissions from across the country and around the world (over 600 submissions last year!), from which 12–14 are selected, cast, rehearsed, and staged in an evening of singular theatrical storytelling.
Solo performance is a unique experience for the actor, the playwright, and the audience alike. Actors take the stage alone and must singularly engage the audience — a remarkable and rewarding challenge for any performer.
How It Works
Playwrights submit original short monologues, which are reviewed by a selection committee. The production team then selects 12–14 pieces, casts actors from the Tucson theatre community, and stages each monologue as part of an evening-length showcase. The show is directed by Invisible Theatre Artistic Associate Gretchen Wirges.
Past productions have featured work by both local and international playwrights, and have showcased some of Tucson’s finest acting talent. All experience levels in the Tucson theatre community are welcome to apply — including actors who have appeared in previous Going IT Alone productions.
How to Be Considered
