Alicia Mena is a Chicana playwright, storyteller, and teaching artist whose work explores family, culture, and community. Her plays are celebrated for their warmth, bilingual voice, and cultural specificity. Las Nuevas Tamaleras has become a touchstone work in Latina/Chicana theatre.

Shakespeare like you've never seen him before! This wildly inventive, modern adaptation of The Comedy of Errors turns mistaken identity into a full-throttle farce packed with physical comedy. When two sets of long-lost twins collide in the same city, chaos erupts!
Wrong spouses, unpaid debts, flying accusations, and a whole lot of door-slamming confusion ensue. Stephen Frankenfield's modern adaptation proves that no matter the century, confusion has never been so hilarious.

About the Adaptation
Stephen Frankenfield's modern adaptation transplants Shakespeare's classic farce of mistaken twins into the present day, trading togas for laptops and ancient Ephesus for contemporary mayhem. The result is a high-energy, physical comedy that honors Shakespeare's comic architecture while making it immediately and hilariously accessible to today's audiences.
