FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Waypoint Theatre Company, southern Arizona’s premier faith-based live theatre organization, is pleased to present the inspiring Journeys in Faith series drama, “Sioux Center Sudan”— the true story of Arlene Schuiteman.

The production will be hosted by two Tucson area churches Saturday, May 31 at 7pm at New Life Baptist Fellowship and Sunday, June 1 at 6pm at Canyon del Oro Baptist Church.  Admission is free.  A love offering will be taken to offset production costs.

“Sioux Center Sudan” embarks on the incredible journey of perseverance and faith of an Iowa school teacher turned African (Sudanese) missionary nurse in the l950s.  Far from the typical “missions” story,  “Sioux Center Sudan” offers an insiders’ view of the frustrations, disappointments, language, cultural barriers, and one’s questioning of faith.

Interlaced into the production are many moments of gentle humor, weaved with timeless hymns sung throughout in both English and Nuer.  “Sioux Center Sudan” is the beautiful story of three very different women and their own journeys of faith.

The seven member cast portrays 40 characters, and is written by award-winning playwright, Jeff Barker.
