DON'T DRESS FOR DINNER is a frenetic case of mistaken identity with more twists than a corkscrew. When Jacqueline decides to visit her mother for a few days, her husband Bernard sees an opportunity for a cozy weekend with his new mistress. His bachelor pal Robert calls to announce his return from Hong Kong, so Bernard invites him along as his alibi, also hiring a Cordon Bleu-level cook to cater a delicious dinner. But when Jacqueline realizes Robert is coming for a visit everything changes, and the high speed farce begins! One impossible situation leads to another as the hapless friend Robert finds himself the target of both amorous attention and wrathful vengeance, while Bernard tries desperately to salvage a scrap of illicit bliss from the wreckage of a weekend.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT

Marc Camoletti (November 16, 1923 - July 18, 2003) was a French playwright best known for his classic farce BOEING-BOEING. Camoletti was born a French citizen in Geneva, Switzerland, though his family had Italian origins. His theatrical career began in 1958 when three of his plays were presented simultaneously in Paris, the first, LA BONNE ANNA, running for 1300 performances and going on to play throughout the world. BOEING-BOEING (1962) was an even greater success, and remains Camoletti's signature hit. The original London production, in an adaptation by Beverley Cross, opened at the Apollo Theatre, transferred to the Duchess, and ran for seven years, racking up more than 2,000 performances. A later play, DON'T DRESS FOR DINNER, also ran for seven years in London, again transferring from the Apollo to the Duchess. Camoletti's plays have been performed in numerous languages in 55 countries. In Paris alone, 18 of his plays have totalled around 20,000 performances in all. Ten of his plays have also been shown on television, the most recent being SEXE ET JALOUSIE. Camoletti was an Associate of the Société Nationale des Beaux Arts. He was awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur, one of France's highest honours. He died in Deauville on the Normandy coast in 2003.

 

ARTIST BIOGRAPHIES

ERIC ANSON - George - is making his 20th appearance on the Mainstage at Live Theatre Workshop in this production of DON'T DRESS FOR DINNER. Previous appearances include WHAT THE BUTLER SAW, WIFE BEGINS AT FORTY, THE UNEXPECTED GUEST, PRIVATE LIVES, CACTUS FLOWER and CHAPTER TWO, to name a few. Eric came to Tucson from California in 1988 and has a PhD in Computer Science from The University of Arizona. He recently appeared with Etcetera in ROBOTS VS. FAKE ROBOTS and can be seen later this season with Winding Road Theatre Ensemble as Ken in Langford Wilson's FIFTH OF JULY.

 

STEPHEN FRANKENFIELD - Direction - last directed MOON OVER BUFFALO and SEE HOW THEY RUN, and has been appearing on the Mainstage at Live Theatre Workshop for over 8 years. Notable productions include THE RAINMAKER, BAREFOOT IN THE PARK, RUN FOR YOUR WIFE, ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, DEARLY DEPARTED, CAUGHT IN THE NET, FUNNY MONEY, THE MYSTERY OF IMRA VEP and most recently in A TUNA CHRISTMAS. Stephen was last seen with LTW in the Etcetera productions of ROBOTS VS. FAKE ROBOTS and as the title role in MR. MARMALADE.

 

RHONDA HALLQUIST - Suzanne - has been directing and acting in local theatre productions for many years now. She has worked with Tucson Art Theater (VALENTINE'S DAY, WAITING FOR LEFTY, THE BALLAD OF THE SAD CAFE), and One in Ten Theatre (A LATE SNOW, STREET THEATRE, MOVIE QUEENS). An original member of Bloodhut Productions, she spent 10 years creating and performing OUR OWN BODIES: STORIES FROM THE BLOODHUT, I KNOW AN OLD WOMAN and ONLY SKIN DEEP, among others. Recent local performances include Beth (DINNER WITH FRIENDS), Casey (ANTON IN SHOW BUSINESS), Lane (THE CLEAN HOUSE) and Betty (WIFE BEGINS AT FORTY).

 

ASHLEY KANE - Assistant Stage Manager - is excited to be backstage again after a short break from LTW. She has previously served on the technical crew for Mainstage productions of THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP, THE HOUSEKEEPER, WIFE BEGINS AT FORTY and the Etcetera productions of SWEET EROS, BUG, SAVAGE IN LIMBO and DOG SEES GOD: CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE BLOCKHEAD.

 

SUSAN KOVITZ - Jacqueline - has played leading roles in HOW THE OTHER HALF LOVES, NO SEX PLEASE - WE'RE BRITISH, ANYTHING GOES, L'IL ABNER, LEND ME A TENOR, 6 RMS RVR VU, THE GINGERBREAD LADY and the 2009 Invisible Theatre production of LEAVING IOWA. A former high school drama and art teacher, she has also appeared in nearly 100 interactive murder mysteries where she periodically died, murdered, and condemned the innocent. A B.F.A. graduate of Rockford College, Susan also studied at Regents College in London.

 

KRISTI LOERA - Costume Design - is Live Theatre Workshop's Executive Director and most recently served as Costume Designer for the Mainstage productions of A THOUSAND CLOWNS and PICNIC. Kristi is currently directing the All Together Theatre production of RAPUNZEL and can be seen on the Mainstage at LTW later this season in THE SANTALAND DIARIES and BALM IN GILEAD.

 

MICHAEL MARTINEZ - Sound Design - is the Director of Music and Education for Live Theatre Workshop, where he also serves as Co-Coordinator of All Together Theatre for families and children. Michael has served as LTW's In-House Sound Designer for countless Mainstage productions. Michael recently appeared with Etcetera as Larry in MR. MARMALADE and will be directing the upcoming Mainstage production of THE SANTALAND DIARIES.

 

PAUL MATLOCK - Production Stage Manager - has been working with Live Theatre Workshop for 9 years. He has served as production stage manager for several shows with LTW including THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP, SHIRLEY VALENTINE and most recently PICNIC. Paul has performed in the Mainstage productions of HOLY SPIRIT ON GRAND AVENUE, CACTUS FLOWER, PICNIC and the Etcetera production of DOG SEES GOD: CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE BLOCKHEAD.

 

DEBBIE RUNGE - Suzanne - Debbie is elated to be returning to the Mainstage at Live Theatre Workshop where she was last seen in SEE HOW THEY RUN, also directed by Stephen Frankenfield. She is also currently performing in LTW's All Together Theatre production of RAPUNZEL. Debbie has worked on stage and off with many theatre companies in Tucson including The Da Vinci Players / Studio Connections and Arizona Onstage Productions.

 

RICK SHIPMAN - Bernard - has been acting for 14 years and recently moved to Tucson from Phoenix. Since coming to Tucson, Rick has appeared in many productions all over town, most recently as Arnold Burns in LTW's Mainstage production of A THOUSAND CLOWNS. He has also been seen locally with Arizona Repetory Theatre in RUM AND COKE and CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, with The Rogue Theatre in THE GOAT and RED NOSES, as Greg in Studio Connections' SYLVIA and as Tom in Beowulf Alley's DINNER WITH FRIENDS.

 

KEITH WICK - Robert - is happy to once again appear in another Live Theatre Workshop Mainstage production. Previous LTW credits include DANCING AT LUGHNASA, SPIDER'S WEB, FUNNY MONEY, LOST IN YONKERS, A TUNA CHRISTMAS, WIFE BEGINS AT FORTY, and WHAT THE BUTLER SAW. Keith has also appeared in several All Together Theatre productions here at LTW. He is a graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts.  Some of his favorite roles include Fluellen in HENRY V, Second Man in AND THEY DANCE REAL SLOW IN JACKSON, Clive Champion-Cheney in THE CIRCLE, and Nathan Detroit in GUYS AND DOLLS. Keith is a recipient of an AriZoni award for his portrayal of Dromio of Syracuse in the Southwest Shakespeare Production of A COMEDY OF ERRORS.
