Tucson: Arizona Opera - Properties Internship and Lighting Internship

Properties Intern – Arizona Opera is seeking properties intern candidates. Arizona Opera seeks to partner with local universities and colleges to provide college credit to all successfully completed internships. The position will assist the Properties coordinator in collecting, purchasing, and building props for Arizona Opera productions and maintaining the visual integrity the props on the Arizona Opera stage. This intern will work closely with the Properties Coordinator and the Director of Production. Interns will be assigned to one area of emphasis but will also assist with general intern duties as well. These duties might include (but are not limited to) transporting cast members; running errands; helping with chorus rehearsals; assisting with rehearsal preparations; and being flexible in helping other Arizona Opera employees when needed. The intern will also be given the opportunity to learn first-hand the inner workings of all aspects of Arizona Opera. Applicants should have experience in a prop department, be very familiar with the Phoenix Metro area, have dependable transportation, and experience in stage carpentry, prop building and painting.  Arizona Opera will reimburse mileage for errands and pay for parking while at Phoenix Symphony Hall.  Time Commitment: Around class schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed. All interested candidates should mail resume and cover letter to Arizona Opera, Attn: Doug Provost – Prop Internship, 4600 N. 12th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.

Lighting Internship- Arizona Opera is seeking properties intern candidates. Arizona Opera seeks to partner with local universities and colleges to provide college credit to all successfully completed internships.  The main duties of this intern are to work with the Lighting Designer in pre-load in design and rehearsals, setting up, focusing and cueing of the lights. Other duties include assisting with installation and maintenance of the Lighting system; working with various aspect of the designer′s plot; assisting in Lighting related errands.
