ZUZI! MOVEMENT SALON presents
Making It Up As We Go Along
Sunday, Jan. 17, 7:00 pm
at the ZUZI! Theater
On Jan. 17, five dancers, two writers, and one musician will create an hour-length performance on the spot--no prior rehearsals, no pre-arranged music, no choreography, no memorized texts, no pre-set ideas. Just a strong intention to create something out of nothing and a skilled practice in paying attention!
And you're invited to watch!
Movement Salon is comprised of dancers Kimi Eisele, Greg Colburn, Jennifer Hoefle, Amanda Morse, Katie Rutterer, poets TC Tolbert and Lisa Bowden and sound-stress Vicki Brown. Together they create ephemeral compositions of movement, text, and sound through a practice they call "compositional improvisation." Their only parameters are space and time. The also adhere to four basic tenets--show up, pay attention, tell the truth, and don't be attached to results. Because their goal is to "stay in the moment," their work covers a wide range of ideas, emotions, and stories. Past pieces have been funny, sad, prophetic, irritating--or all of those things at once.
Don't miss this "once in a lifetime" performance! Literally.
Tickets $7-$10 (sliding scale...help us pay for a broken mirror!)
