Tucson, Arizona – Pima Community College Music presents Valentine’s Day concert featuring the Rodriguez & Keepe Duo performing a delightful mix of romantic favorites from both the piano and classical saxophone repertoire. Rodriguez performs two beautiful works by Chopin and Liszt. Keepe performs two sultry solo tangos by Piazzolla. Together they present works by Ravel, Schumann, Kreisler, Decruck, and a lovely tango for soprano saxophone and piano by British composer Graham Lynch.

Formed in 1992, Allen Rodriguez (piano) and Michael Keepe (saxophone) entertain audiences throughout the greater Tucson area with an elegant mix of classical and contemporary music. Each is an accomplished virtuoso.

Rodriguez, a native of Oklahoma, has resided in Tucson since 1977.  He began studying piano at age seven and trumpet at twelve. Rodriguez was granted a full music scholarship to attend Southwestern State College in Oklahoma, where he was a double major in piano performance and instrumental music education/trumpet with a minor in voice.  He completed his undergraduate degree at Centenary College in Louisiana.  He studied piano with Dr. Robert Reynolds, James Dick, Lita Guerra and Dame Lili Kraus. While pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Arizona he studied with Ozan Marsh and Billie Erlings.

Keepe performs locally with The Rodriguez & Keepe Duo, Arizona Opera, Tucson Symphony and the Tucson Chamber Orchestra. He also performs throughout the country as the soprano chair and founding member of the Tucson based, internationally acclaimed Presidio Saxophone Quartet. He is the owner of MLKEEPE and Castle Keepe Publications specializing in the promotion of new concert saxophone repertoire. Keepe is currently pursuing a doctorate in saxophone performance with a minor in music business at the University of Arizona, where he is the graduate teaching assistant for the saxophone studio and the Camerata Career Development Program. He is a performing artist and clinician for the Selmer Company and can be heard on the Albany and AUR recording labels. Keepe teaches saxophone and music industry at Pima College.

The Rodriguez & Keepe Duo Valentine’s Day concert is open to the public. Tickets are available at the Center for the Arts box office, located on West Campus at 2202 West Anklam Road, Tucson, (just west of downtown and I-10 on St. Mary’s Road which turns into Anklam Road).
