A workshop style camp designed to enhance a dancer's skill level in a positive and exclusive environment. Focuses include Jazz, Theatre dance, Ballet, Tap, Hip-Hop, and more. Special Guest instructors as well as our KU Studios teaching staff are dedicated to providing each student with an individualized, challenging and inspiring experience.

Teachers Include:

Guy Amir

Guy's training in Worcester, Massachusetts at the Charlotte Klein Dance Center. He has been training in Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Hip-Hop since the age of 9. Guy has been professionally dancing since the age of 15 and now attends the University of Arizona as a Dance Major for his Junior year. Guy has appeared in performances for New Balance® Sneakers as well as Boston Dance Company's performance of the Nutcracker as the Nutcracker Prince in 2005. This past winter Guy was a guest artist for the Queen City Ballet in Helena, Montana. Guy has had his choreography appear in many different shows, including the University of Arizona's 125th birthday celebration. Guy loves to teach and share his knowledge of dance with anyone that wants to learn.

 

Kris Shaw Hoffman

Kris has been taking dance since the age of 7 and has been teaching dance since the age of 16. She grew up in Bakersfield, California where she studied from two wonderful teachers: Georgia Lynn Bowden and Jenny Hashim. After earning a Bachelor of Performing Arts Degree from Oklahoma City University, Kris began working for Stiletto Entertainment and Holland America Cruise Lines. For two years, she traveled all over the Caribbean, Central America and Alaska performing as a dancer and as a magician assistant. Kris then moved to Los Angeles where she taught at various dance studios and worked with arts enrichment programs teaching dance in elementary and high schools throughout the Los Angeles area. Next, Kris moved to Las Vegas where she was an acrobat/dancer for Les Folies Bergere at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino. Most recently, Kris has graduated with a Master's of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts with Dance Emphasis from the University of Arizona. She currently teaches dance for Pima Community College West Campus and is a Theatrical Assistant for the University of Arizona School of Dance.

 

La Tosha Evans

Performing since the age of 3, La Tosha has always been drawn to the stage. Having been trained in multiple dance styles including; jazz, tap, ballet, and cultural movements, she is excited to put intergrate of these styles onto the stage of KU Studios. Dance credits include working with the Arizona Ballet and Moscow Ballet, The Coexistence Exhibit World Tour in Tucson, and T-Jamz at Universal City Walk in LA. Her work has been seen in such productions as; "A Thousand Cranes" and "The Crucible" at Pima Community College, as well as numerous productions with KU Studios over the last decade. La Tosha has been awarded The American Amiter Model & Talent Competition's Overall Talent of the Year, best character dance in the Cinderella International Program, and was 1st alternate to overall teen crown in the AZ State Cinderella Program. She has had the privlage of appearing in many shows. Some of her favorite roles include; Rusty in "Footloose", Sophie in "BFG", Phyllis Dale in "42nd Street".

 

Mika Deslongchamp

Originally and avid member of the ballet world, Mika Deslongchamps expanded her dance training at a young age to include everything from modern to ballroom. Growing up she performed and trained with numerous companies and guest artists including Amanda McKerrow, John Gardner, the Moscow Ballet, Lauren Gottlieb, and Jessica Star. She has been teaching all around Tucson at a variety of locations for the past 3 years and enjoys every minute of it. Mika's choreography and dance talents have earned her numerous awards including, special judges awards and high point recognitions at competition. Her goal in teaching is to inspire a love of dance and open a world of creativity to her students. She currently teaches at local studios and high schools as well as owns her own professional college dance team, On The M.A.R.K. Dance Co.

 

Brittany O'Daniel

A Dance Major with the University of Arizona. She has been dancing for 16 years, and her focus throughout that time has been on ballet. Originally from Scottsdale, AZ, she has trained with the School of Ballet Arizona, Arizona School for the Arts, Scottsdale School of Dance, Indiana University, and Pittsburgh Ballet Theater. She is also trained in other dance styles such as Modern, Contemporary, Tap, and Jazz. She has been teaching for a few years, and loves passing on her love of dance to her students.

 

Brittany Mazur

Brittany has been performing since the age of 7. With a dance background of 14 years, and a vocal background of 12 years, she is a former member and current teacher and receptionist for Kids Unlimited. Brittany has held such titles as Arizona Cinderella Miss, International Cinderella Teen, as well as Miss Arizona's Outstanding Teen: she currently made top 10 in the Miss Arizona pageant. For the last two years she has worked as an entertainer with Royal Caribbean Productions touring both the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.

 

Nicole Meador

Nicole Meador was born and raised in the San Franciso Bay Area and started dancing at the age of four. She was trained in both Russian and Cecchetti styles of ballet, as well as tap, jazz, lyrical, and modern. She was a junior member of Dance Masters of America which afforded her the opportunity to attend conventions all over the U.S.and perform on a cruise to Mexico. She was Miss Teen San Jose in 1995, her senior year of high school, which provided her scholarship money to attend college. In addition to being a member of the San Jose Ballet School started by Wana Williams Kalimos of the San Franciso Ballet Company and later co-directed by Francesca and Dimitri Romanoff of American Ballet Theatre and Janet Vertin, she also had the opportunity to train and perform with a number of professionals including Anthony LoCascio from Tap Dogs, Marie Stinnett, Audrey King, Glenna Bell and Cory Finn. After high school graduation, she headed off to Tempe to earn degrees in political science and business at Arizona State University. During college she took dance classes at the university as well as taught
ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical at a nearby studio. In 1999, she returned to the Bay Area where she continued teaching dance while beginning a career in education. She earned her teaching certificate and M.A. in reading at Santa Clara University. She taught pre-school, kindergarten, and 7th grade before deciding to start a Ph.D. program in educational psychology at the University of Arizona.

 

Veronica Garcia

Raised in Tucson, AZ, Veronica started her dancing career at age 3 and since has pursued dance all over the world. Dancing with Ballet Tucson, she has had many opportunities to travel such as in France, Germany and Denmark, and has attended many prestigious summer intensives including American Ballet Theatre, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and the Radio City Rockettes. She has studied with many studios including Kids Unlimited, and with multiple renowned dancers such as Amanda McKerrow, John Gardener, Patricia Barker, Shane Sparks, and many more. Her varieties of dance range from ballet, tap, jazz, and modern to contemporary and choreography of all styles. Starting her first year at the University of Arizona, she is now a part of ConDanza, a community outreach group, and the teaching staff of KU Studios. Dance has always been a huge part of Veronica, and she is very excited to teach students the skills she has developed over the years, and expand her range in the teaching world.
