WAYPOINT THEATRE COMPANY TO PRODUCE MITCH ALBOM'S TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE

 

(January 30, 2012)  Waypoint Theatre Company proudly presents the theatrical adaptation of the beloved bestseller and life-affirming autobiography, MITCH ALBOM'S TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE, February 16-19 and 23-26, 2012 at Atria Bell Court Gardens' Academy Hall Theatre, 6653 E. Carondelet Drive (northeast of St. Joseph's Medical Center).  The production features Waypoint regulars Tynan Haggard-Schoolman (Mitch) and Al Baumrucker (Morrie) with Shaylynn Lakser (Janine) and is directed by Waypoint's Artistic Director, Melanie David.

Mitch Albom, is an accomplished journalist driven solely by his career, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor.  Sixteen years after graduation, Mitch happens to catch Morrie's appearance on a television news program and learns that his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). Mitch is reunited with Morrie, and what starts as a simple visit, turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life.  There is a running time of 90 minutes without intermission.

 

Waypoint Theatre will be partnering with ALS Association of Arizona- Tucson Chapter for a benefit performance Thursday, Feb. 23.  There will be a Waypoint-hosted appetizer reception from 7-7:30pm.  An audience Q and A session, led by ALS/AZ Director of Family and Patient Services Kim Hughes, will immediate follow the performance.  50% of all tickets sold for the benefit performance will go back to ALS of Arizona in support of the ALS family and friends in Tucson.  More information on ALS of Arizona may be found online at http://webaz.alsa.org/site/PageServer?pagename=AZ_homepage .
