Colleagues - Below is a list of some unique theater books for purchase to help a local arts group who also is an umbrella organization for a local theater group that will soon be re-opening.  All listings below accurately portray condition and prices at current values.

Bertolt Brecht Journals 1934-1955 - Rare - VERY GOOD CONDITION - Loaded with B/W photos of people and productions -all pages unmarked, uncreased, covers and spine uncreased - $45.00.

Pinter, the Player’s Playwright, by David Thompson, 1985 - RARE - Contains these studies of Pinter’s work - The Player’s Playwright, Apprentice to Two Masters, Enter David Baron, Rep Plays and Pinter Plays, Revaluation: Props, Costumes and Sets, Revaluation: Movement and Dialogue - hardcover - one page ONLY has a few highlight marks, one page creased, but all other pages unmarked, spine tight, dust jacket covered in plastic - $13.50.


Russian and Soviet Theater, 1905-1932, by Constantin Rudnitsky, 1988 Harry Abrams Books - VERY RARE - OVERSIZE - PERFECT LIKE NEW - has 457 illustrations, 64 plates in full color - this doctuments the extraordinary developments of Russian Theater in the early 20th Century, with essays by internationally authorities on Russian Theater - HARDCOVER - Red-orange colored cloth bound with very sturdy and colorful dust jacket - ALL pages unmarked and uncreased, spine tight, very slight shelf rubbings with NO tears - $50.00.  EXCELLENT FOR STAGE DESIGNERS

The Esstential Samuel Beckett, an Illustrated Biography, by Enoch Brater, 2003 - Rare, with 122 illustrations - all pages unmarked and uncreased, spine tight and unbent, cover very minor shelf rubbings - $9.00.

The NEXT American Essay, edited by John D’Agata, 2003 - 32 selections of essays from various noted authors - all pages unmarked and uncreased, spine tight, covers fine with very minor shelf wear - $10.00.

Cinema of Obsession, Erotic fixation and Love Gone Wrong in the Movies, by Dominique Mainon and James Ursini, 2007 - discusses 100 movies on this subject with several HUNDRED B/W photos - PERFECT CONDITION in all ways - $9.00.

 

A Critical Cinema 3, Interviews with Independent Filmmakers, by Scott MacDonald, 1998 - Very Good Condition - extensive coverage of many truly experimental films by noted commentators, all pages unmarked and uncreased, spine unbent or creased, covers in fine shape with very light shelf wear - $9.00.


The Films of Mike Leigh, Embracing the World, by Ray Carney and Leonard Quart, 2000 - Examinaton of Mike Leigh methodology for making his movies - a few pencil and highlighter markings in the first three chapters, but clean from there on, spine tight, covers scuffed and bent slightly from shelf wear and use - $9.00.

SPECIAL** - Lacombe - Cinema/Theater, by Adam Gopnik, 2001 - Collectible quality.  Brilliant monograph of 254 full page Lacombe's photos from the 70's to present, includes wide variety of familiar theater & film personalities; duotone B&W photos; printed & bound in Italy; intro by David Mamet; essay by Adam Gopnik - oversize; first edition in black jacket and cardboard slipcase; black cloth bound with recessed black titles; spotless, clean bright pages & perfect spine - $350.00.
