Ballet in Bloom brings the 2025–2026 season to a glorious close with three dazzling works showcasing the full range of the Ballet Tucson company. From a Balanchine classic to two Ballet Tucson premieres, this program is an unmissable celebration of the art form at its most vibrant and alive.

PROGRAM

La Source — George Balanchine

Once described as “pink champagne,” this Balanchine masterwork features brilliant ensemble choreography alongside virtuosic pas de deux. A luminous, effervescent gem from one of ballet’s greatest choreographers.

Bacchus — Matthew Neenan — Ballet Tucson Premiere

Premiering at Pacific Northwest Ballet in 2019 with Ballet Tucson’s own Artistic Director Margaret Mullin as part of the original cast, this lively work by New York Times–praised choreographer Matthew Neenan is set to the spirited music of Oliver Davis. A romp inspired by the Roman god of wine himself.

Boléro — Ron Cunningham — Ballet Tucson Premiere

The program concludes with a Ballet Tucson premiere of choreographer Ron Cunningham’s critically acclaimed work set to Maurice Ravel’s iconic score. Intriguing, provocative, and bold — a longtime Sacramento Ballet audience favorite and a thrilling finale to the season.
