Tucson Improv Movement Improvathon this weekend

From: Tucson Improv Movement <justin@tucsonimprov.com>
Sent: Thursday, May 29, 2025 7:00 AM
Subject:
🛎️Yes and News - 5/29/25

Have you gotten a few extra naps in? I am working on it, building up my sleep deposits, because tomorrow we go all out, 28+ hours of continuous comedy! Why are you doing this, you may ask? To be honest, I don't really know. But here are a few things I do know about the Improvathon.

  • It is one of the biggest bonding moments of the year for our company.
  • The best comedy always happens at 6 am, when you have been going non-stop for multiple hours.
  • This is such a cool way for us to highlight all of our teams and the amazing work they have been doing this past year.
  • And last but not least, our super cool event graphic, created by the dino-loving artistic superstar Ben Mackey, will be on a t-shirt and available at the theater all weekend long!

Long story fun, the Improvathon is about fun.  It's doing something for the sake of doing it. Why does a human being choose to run a marathon, to prove to themselves and the world that they can! I love the Improvathon, I love getting to hang out with the TIM performing company members all weekend long, and I love the comedy gold that happens when you have a little less sleep than you want, and a little more caffeine than you need.

This weekend, we also celebrate the 500th Soapbox Show! It is an honor to hit this milestone, and to be a part of something so long-lasting in our community! We've had some Tucson rock stars come and tell stories at the show over the years, former mayor Jonathan Rothschild, Jeannette MarĆ©, Dan Gibson, Laura Conover, Dante Lauretta, Joe Pagac, and David Fitzsimmons to name a few. But no matter who comes to tell the stories, the magic is having someone share true stories from their life, and the communal experience we have together in that moment.  Friday night at 7:30 pm, we welcome Pima County Supervisor Rex Scott to tell stories at our 500th show!

If you are not a performing company member, the most important thing we need from you this weekend is support.  You are the fuel that keeps us running! Come out at any time or stay for it all! Tickets are now available here, and you could grab an All-Access pass for just $20. Ok, I am going to take a nap, but I want to see you this weekend!
