I'm shooting a short comedy on Oct. 9-11 about a group of lunch ladies that form a mafia to fight against the corrupt school principal.

I'm looking for the oldest actress in town to play a small, but important, role with one line. You must be willing to get hit with soft food (i.e. mashed potatoes) during a food fight scene.

Additionally, I am looking for two other women, ages 50+ to play the two lead lunch ladies. Also, must be willing to get hit with soft food.

And, I am also looking for a 50+ man to play the lead lunch ladies' secret janitor boyfriend.

Please email me your headshot and contact info, so we can schedule a time to meet and audition.

Thanks,
Katie

I'm currently looking to cast two leads for my senior thesis film, The Destroyer. Chances are this will be developed into a feature film. If you think you could play either of these roles please send a headshot and resume. Initial shooting will be during the first weekend of December.

Tommy: 55-65. He is wealthy, but impervious to
wealth. He is a veteran of many wars, though he was never drafted. He has committed
unspeakable war crimes. He is a deeply sad individual, remorseful for the things he has done and convinced that there is
a bullet out there with his name on it - it is only a matter of time before it finds him.

Melissa: Early to mid twenties. Attractive with sad intense eyes. She is caught between modes of thought; adrift, floating above her generation.
She watches, judges, waits to make her move. But the moment may be passing her by.
She is a political science major, well versed in academia, and accustomed to analysis
over action, thoughts over deeds. The time will soon come when she has to make a
choice: to die for what is right, or to pick up a gun and fight for what is best.

Thanks

We're casting for an indie horror movie to be filmed in and around Tucson in November 2009. We need a cast of bright young performers (18+), regardless of prior film or theatre experience, and a love for the horror genre is a definite plus. It's a throwback to the '80s-style slasher movies, so expect a lot of running, screaming, and lots of (mostly fake) blood! It's an 80-90-minute feature set in a mostly urban environment, with a cast of 10 performers, mostly ranging in ages from 18 to 35. Two 50+ male performers are needed as well as one 40+ female performer. Experience is not required, but a love for the genre is a strong preference!

It's a low-budget production, but all actors are paid for their work. Per diems based on travel, etc., may also be available.

Send pics and resumes ASAP. We'll be filming some teaser trailers and promotional videos the first week of November, and will be filming later that month, so be ready to hit the ground running!

  • Location: Tucson
  • it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests
  • Compensation: Paying gig for all actors; per diems based on travel or other expenses may be available as well.

Tucson: Double Feature Sunday - Mercy and Red 71, Beowulf Alley Theatre

From: mclaff9@earthlink.net
Sent: Saturday, September 26, 2009 11:36 AM
Subject: [IFASA] Double Feature Sunday - Mercy and Red 71, Beowulf Alley Theatre

Remember the great deal at Beowulf Alley Theatre this Sunday.

Double Feature - Mercy and Red 71
Sunday, 27 Sep, 6:00 PM
Beowulf Alley Theatre, 11 South 6th Ave (between Broadway and Congress)

Beowulf's IndeFlicks @ The Alley presents a double feature of Mercy and Red 71, both by Patrick Roddy (www.patrickroddy.com). Tickets for this double feature are $10, which includes a bottle of water for the first 50 patrons and free popcorn for everyone. Tickets may be purchased online at www.beowulfalley.org or at the door.

Mercy: After serving twenty-five years for committing a mysterious and violent crime, John is released from prison. Unfortunately, the first human contact he has is with a maniacal parole officer. John's later experience with a condescending new landlord isn't so great either, and together these encounters effectively establish the bleak and miserable tone that seems to characterize his life on the outside. Nevertheless, John works to establish a routine as a way to counter his guilt and achieve a sense of normalcy. However, he soon loses his way when a would-be actress awakens certain deeply suppressed desires. These desires, in turn, trigger eerie hallucinations and disturbing nightmares that recall a criminal past best forgotten.

Best Feature Film, Peoria Film Festival
Top 10 Indie Films of 2006, Cinephelia.com
Best Actor – Gary Shannon, The Phantom's Annual "B"wards, Videoscope magazine

"Mercy" is a bleak ride through existential torment that is irresistible – Rue Morgue magazine
Strikingly original, unforgettable experience...true movie magic, of the deepest and darkest variety [3 1/2 out of 4 stars] – Videoscope magazine

Red 71: Written by Nicholl Fellowship semifinalist Ken Henderson, Red 71 features eerie cinematography and direction by Roddy, in addition to an atmospheric score by Friends of Dean Martinez that forms an audio-visual landscape reminiscent of David Lynch. The film stars Michelle Belegrin (Desire, Blood & Bone) and features Angus Scrimm (Phantasm).

Red 71 is a knotty mystery, set in a peculiar desert town, whose characters form a web of relationships. Shane, a self-styled gumshoe, expresses himself sparingly and yearns for the beautiful and calculating Lorain. She induced him to invest in her husband Charley's illicit club, 71, and wants him to stop Del, her mercurial lover, from assaulting Charley. When successive victims are found brutally murdered, everyone is a possible killer. The story unravels to reveal the killer and answer the question: how far could one go to possess what he will never have?

Tucson: Casting Call - UofA Student film in need of actors

-----Original Message-----
From: kgault@email.arizona.edu [mailto:kgault@email.arizona.edu]

Subject: Student film in need of actors

I am a student filmmaker at the UofA, and I am currently casting my senior
thesis film. My short is about a group of lunch ladies that form a mafia to
fight against the corrupt school principal. I'm looking for the following:

MARLENE (50+): Sweet lunch lady, who is happy with her job.
BARB (50+): "Marlon Brando" of the lunch ladies "mafia." Very manipulative.
Smokers voice.
JAMES (50+): Marlene's secret janitor boyfriend. Nice and sarcastic.
BERTHA (as old as I can get): I'm looking for the oldest actresses in town.
Bertha only has one line, but she is vital to the storyline.

All lunch ladies must be willing to be involved in a staged food fight. Soft
food (i.e. mashed potatoes) will be thrown at you.

Shooting dates are Oct. 9-11 (daytime), so I need actors ASAP. If
interested,
email kgault@email.arizona.edu. Thank you!!!!

Katie Gault
