Actors and Child Actors Needed for Short Film! (Tucson)

I am looking for a few actors to participate in a short film written and Directed by myself.

Regarding my experience in film making, I am an independent, and although I am not very well known or accredited, I have been involved in film in more ways than one throughout my life. This is my first short film.

I am also looking for 3 kids (Two boys and one girl) ages (7 - 8) to participate.
Parental permission and involvement are required.

The film is a visual metaphor and contrast of the lives that we live, and how ultimately... We are born alone, and will die alone.
But life is not about the destination, It is about the journey.

This film is about love, childhood, family, loss, life and death.

The Primary location of this film will be a set designed restaurant

This film is very visually based.
I am looking for various actors. Here is a list of the available positions.
(NOTE: MANY OF THE CHARACTERS NAMES ARE NEVER MENTIONED IN THE FILM THEREFORE THE TITLES "Man 1" "Friend 2" and "Lover 1" are necessary.

> LOVER 2: The visual of this woman is that she is beautiful, but not in a Glamorous, movie star kind of way. (Naturally beautiful)

> FATHER: This actor must be an older male. Preferably age 60 +

> FORMER SELF (Child): Must be a Boy age 7 - 8 of Caucasian Descent.

> FORMER SELF (Child): Must be a Girl age 7 - 8 of Caucasian Descent.

> FORMER SELF (Child): Must be a boy age 7 - 8 of African American / Black Descent.

> EXTRAS: This film needs as many extras as it can get for the restaurant scene.

Joan is Burning is a satirical comedy of the near future. Beowulf Alley Theatre auditions for two new plays

From: theatre@beowulfalley.org
Sent: Thursday, May 31, 2012 10:53 AM
Subject: Auidtion Notice

Beowulf Alley Theatre announces

Auditions

For two new plays

Beowulf Alley Theatre will be holding auditions for Eugene O’Neill’s “new” play Exorcism and a new play by Jem Street, Hope, Monday, June 4th at 7:00 PM to 8:30PM at Beowulf Alley Theatre, 11 S. 6th Avenue, in downtown Tucson. Auditions will consist of readings from the scripts.

Needed:

Exorcism:

Two men (20’s)

Three men (30-60)

Hope

Two women (30-45)

One African-American woman (20’s)

One woman (20’s)

Two men (35-50’s)

Exorcism is a one-act play about a troubled young man and his difficult relationship with his family. It is something of a palimpsest for Long Days Journey Into Night, as the main character Ned is reminiscent to Jamie Tyrone. The play was performed by the Provincetown Players in 1920 and then quickly withdrawn. It is speculated that O’Neill was too uncomfortable with such an honest portrait of himself and his father. Recently rediscovered, this production will run Friday and Saturday, July 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th at 7:30PM and Sunday July 8th at 2:30PM.

Hope by Jem Street is a new play and part of her graces trilogy that includes Faith and Love. Street’s work meditates on American life in the first part of the new millennium with humor, candor and a sense of history. Hope is the story of Joe Chandler, a Tennessee businessman being courted to run for the U.S. House of Representatives. Chandler must look back over his life and determine if he has “been a good enough man to be a politician.” In flashback his history with romantic relationships, a stormy relationship with his racist father, and all that he has been must be seen through this ironic prism. This is a full-length play and the performance dates are Friday and Saturday July 20th, 21st, 27th, and 28th at 7:30 PM and Sunday July 22nd at 2:30 PM.

For more information contact Michael Fenlason at 520 882 0555 or at theatre@beowulfalley.org.

Caridad Svich Awarded 2012 Village Voice OBIE for Lifetime Achievement

May 22, 2012

Michael McKean presented the citation, written by Jose Rivera:

And now our final award of the evening. Certain artists see borders and stop at them. Others see borders as an opportunity for transcendence. Few artists can claim to have crossed so many boundaries at birth: Cuba, Argentina, Spain, and Croatia. Few have created so many bodies of work in so many disciplines: playwriting, songwriting, essay writing, teaching, translation, reviewing, editing, and mentoring. For her prodigious output as one of America’s most daring and provocative Latina writers, for her indefatigable energy, for her selfless and consistent advocacy of artists of all backgrounds, for her dizzying array of intellectual interests and pursuits—yes, for the very poetry that is her life’s energy—the judges are proud to give this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award to a nomad, a storyteller, and a true woman of the theater: CARIDAD SVICH
