ARIZONA REPERTORY THEATRE presents JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR

ARIZONA REPERTORY THEATRE: JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR ...

November 12, 2023 at 1:30pm

VENUE: Tornabene Theatre

Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber & Lyrics by Tim Rice. Directed and choreographed by Christie Kerr, Music Direction by Jamie Reed.

What’s the buzz? The first musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice to be produced for the professional stage, Jesus Christ Superstar has wowed audiences for over 50 years. A timeless work, the rock opera is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire.

The iconic 1970s rock score contains such well-known numbers as “Superstar,” “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” and “Gethsemane.” A true global phenomenon, Superstar continues to touch new generations of audiences and performers.

Arts Express Theatre presents BEAUTIFUL - The Carole King Musical

Long before she was Carole King, she was Carol Klein, a Brooklyn girl with passion and chutzpah. She fought her way into the record business as a teenager and later had the husband of her dreams. But it wasn't until her personal life began to crack that she found her true voice. King wrote the soundtrack to a generation, with pop classics, including "You've Got a Friend," "One Fine Day," "Up on the Roof," "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling," and "Natural Woman.' This heart-felt tapestry is filled with the songs you remember - and a story you'll never forget.

Over months filled with laughter, hilarious misadventures, and the occasional liquid refreshment, these middle-aged women successfully bond and find the confidence to jumpstart their new lives.
