“What are words if not the means God gave us to reach towards one another, to shine a light through the darkness in hope. In hope that we might become... visible. Become known.”

— Act 1

In 1845, Branwell Brontë returns home to his sisters in disgrace, plagued by his addictions and the scandals in which he is mired. As he descends into alcoholism and insanity, bringing chaos to the household, Charlotte, Emily, and Anne plot… and write. Polly Teale's extraordinary play evokes the real and imagined worlds of the Brontës, as the fictional characters come to haunt their creators.

'Riveting... a tantalizing glimpse through the window of a uniquely haunted family home.' - The Times

Troubadour Theatre hiring class instructors

From: Troubadour Theatre <troubadourtheatre@yahoo.com>
Sent: Thursday, January 26, 2023 5:12 PM
Subject: Troubadour Theatre hiring class instructors

Troubadour Theatre is looking for instructors to add additional classes to our Spring schedule.  We are a youth theatre in Tucson currently offering classes to ages 7-18.  We are looking for instructors who are theatre/arts professionals and have experience teaching and can lead a class independently.  Schedule is flexible, the class would need to be once a week for a 4-8 week session (day/time and length of session is flexible depending on instructor).  Classes are usually late afternoon/evening weekdays or morning/afternoon on weekends.  Instructor can pick from several open days/times for their class.  Classes are generally 5-10 students (with most classes open to either ages 7-12 or 11-18).

We are open to different classes to add to our roster, depending on what your expertise and experience is.  Specifically, we are really hoping to find a new musical theatre instructor, but are also open to adding other classes to the schedule that we don't already offer, which could be anything in the realm of the arts. We are open to art and music classes as well.  Instructor would be an independent contractor and would be paid for the session as a stipend, based on the rate of $25 an hour.

If interested in teaching a class, please email Kristen at troubadourtheatre@yahoo.com with your resume and what you'd be interested in teaching. Thanks!

ATC presents The Glass Menagerie

The Glass Menagerie

By Tennessee Williams | Directed by Chanel Bragg

1/21/23 – 2/11/23

Amanda lives in an illusion of recapturing her faded Southern Belle glory. Her daughter Laura lives in a fantasy world of delicate glass figurines, and her son Tom dreams poetically of a world beyond the back stoop. When Tom brings home a Gentleman Caller to meet his sister, The Glass Menagerie weaves these lives into a heart-stopping dance of hopes pursued and dreams betrayed. Considered by many to be Tennessee Williams’ greatest play, The Glass Menagerie is an achingly beautiful story of longing and love that has touched generations of theatergoers with its sparkling, delicate radiance.

Arizona Arts Live and Double M Arts & Events present The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart

The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart

February 15, 2023 - February 18, 2023

Dreamlike storytelling awaits you in this immersive theatrical experience based on the globally acclaimed production by the National Theatre of Scotland. Join Prudencia Hart on a haunting journey with supernatural encounters, Scottish folk songs, and razor-sharp turns you won’t see coming. Grab a seat and sip a pint as we’re taken on an adventure in the Shirt Shop Mercantile (formerly The Grill) in Downtown Tucson.

Inspired by the Scottish Borderland Ballads, this tale finds uptight academic Prudencia Hart departing one wintry morning for a conference in the borderlands. What awaits her is an enchanting and suspenseful journey of devilish encounters, wittily wild karaoke, and dreamlike self-discovery.

Renowned Scottish playwright David Greig connects the dots between contemporary themes, Scottish culture and identity, and the grand tradition of writing for the stage, by weaving a tale set in current time but using largely rhymed verse. Prudencia is manically funny and soul-searching, often within the same stanza.

The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart is an immersive musical theatrical experience. Expect performers to madly traverse the Shirt Shop Mercantile, which will be magically transformed each night into a Scottish pub. Prudencia contains mild profanity and adult references delivered in rhymed verse; recommended for ages 14 and up.

Due to the nature of the performance, latecomers cannot be seated. Come early, grab a seat, and enjoy a pint as we’re taken on an adventure through the Scottish borderlands in this award-winning, critically acclaimed musical play. Cash bar available.

A revival of the original National Theatre of Scotland commissioned production, by David Grieg co-created with Wils Wilson, produced by Double M Arts & Events.
