Subject: 🌟 March Unscrewed News to Use 🌟

March 2020

And it's MADNESS, I tell you.

Just plain madness.

Basketball references aside, it IS pure March Madness this month at Unscrewed Theater. We've got FIFTEEN shows, FIVE workshops, TWO FREE showcases, and TWO new 8-week classes starting. I can just smell the improv happiness starting to sprout. Can't you?

Just the first weekend of March is crammed FULL of so much improvisational goodness.
•    Two family-friendly NBOJU shows
•    A free OPEN HOUSE meet & greet
•    From the Top's Improvised Musical
•    A new Improv Basics class
•    FOUR Paul Vaillancourt workshops

And, yes, you're right. We might just be sleeping at the theater - so we can make sure no one misses ANY of this fun. You can get all the details you want online at UnscrewedTheater.org or on our Facebook page.

Still too much to digest?
Call me – 520-975-7035 – and we'll figure out together what part of this ooey goodness is right up your alley.

I'd like to talk about our 8-week classes right now. Our Improv Basics class starts Saturday 3/7 – from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. No experience, or even improv ambitions, necessary. All you need is the desire to have the most fun ever on a Saturday afternoon.

OH, and it's on sale!  Only $199 – for all eight weeks. AND you get a free t-shirt. Enroll here, while we've still got open spots.
👉 Sign me up!

If you've already got some improv under your belt, give our newest ImprovBlox class a try – Group Mind and Scene Craft. It starts Tuesday, March 10th at 7:00pm. Alan Trammel and Rob Sparks will guide your way through the magic that creates expansive and dramatic scenes by relating with others in new and exciting ways. Not to be missed!

Got kids? Bring 'em to our ever-popular FAMILY HOUR at 6pm on the 14th. They'll love the pure joy of being part of the show – on and off the stage.  And you'll love the memories you're making for everyone. Get out those phone cameras, you'll need 'em.

Rather have some *spicy* improv fun? We got that, too. Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed hits the stage with their UNCENSORED FUNNY at 9pm on both the 14th and 28th.

Wanna see a variety of teams play and perform?  Catch our Double Feature at 9pm on the 21st. Both Leaky Faucets and Big Daddies hit the stage in the same show for some long-form funny.

Want some FREE FUN? You can catch our Student Showcases on the 7th and 13th. And don't forget our Free Form Friday and 4th Friday Free Form Fight Night.  Something different every time, and NEVER a cost to get in.

Phew.
So. Much. Fun.
And we love doing it just for you.

Oh, and by the way, our month non-profit partner for March is Dollars for Scholars. Come to ANY show and find out how the smallest of donations can go a long way to funding the future of a local Tucson student.

Wanna hear some REAL chatter from Chris? Listen to his podcast about NBOJU on KXCI!

Unscrewed Theater is located at 4500 E Speedway Blvd #39 – just west of Speedway & Swan in Midway Plaza on the south side of the street between Mama's Pizza & Sushi Ten.

A father whose cruelty drives his sons into desperate revenge, his first two wives into the grave, and a third wife into forbidden seduction.  The play’s classical catharsis purges and transforms into forgiveness and the uplifting power of love.

‘Desire’ based on Euripides’ play Hippolytus, and the Greek myth Phaedra, exquisitely explores the tragic excesses of greed and passion, offering an eternal lesson.

Join us for a screening of the critically acclaimed documentary Versailles '73. It is the first intimate look at the infamous Palace of Versailles fashion show fundraiser. The documentary is an exciting, behind-the-scenes story of the competition between French and American designers that resulted in the elevation of the U.S. fashion industry and the breaking of the color barrier for black models. Not many moments in life change the course of history, shatter the status quo and usher in a paradigm shift. But on November 28, 1973 at the Chateau de Versailles, such a moment took place. For the second time in history, the Americans stormed France in an epic battle. This battle, however would pit the French haute couture establishment — Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Hubert de Givenchy, Pierre Cardin and Emmanuel Ungaro — against American designers Anne Klein, Stephen Burrows, Oscar de la Renta and Halston. In front of an audience of royalty, millionaire luminaries and icons including Andy Warhol, Princess Grace of Monaco, Christina Onassis and Josephine Baker, the Americans catapulted ready-to-wear to global stardom. Their secret weapon was fresh, innovative designs and the tour de force, a collective of stunning black models who sashayed down the runway and into the hearts of the high-profile audience. Versailles '73: American Runway Revolution is a funny, extraordinary and often poignant collection of memories shared by the models, designers, journalists, patrons and other lucky enough to witness the night the changed fashion forever.

Festival Workshops

*Workshops are open to participants of all genders!

Workshops Saturday February 29th
10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Being A Dream Partner - Jill Bernard
Improv is rarely a solo endeavor. This workshop will focus on how you can become the best possible partner your teammates could imagine. Games and exercises showing how to listen to what your partner really wants, and turn them into a rockstar. If we're all doing this for each other, we're a team of rockstars and we all win!

Your Moment - Shannon Stott
This workshop focuses on identifying and moving through the moments in which you are verbally, mentally and physically holding back on stage. Shannon Stott encourages and guides players to improvise boldly and to take up space in spite of stereotypical feedback from fellow players. Expect to push your improv boundaries.

2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The Fireball Theory - Jill Bernard
This workshop presents Jill Bernard's Fireball Theory and offers exercises to help you improvise faster and harder than you can judge yourself. You will learn to metaphorically hit the scene running and outrun the explosion of self-loathing and doubt like an action movie hero outruns a fireball thus defying the laws of physics. Please wear closed toe shoes to this workshop.

Finding Yourself On Stage - Shannon Stott
What happens when you bump into your genuine thoughts, emotions and even your own physicality on stage? Your audience leans in and you connect with them and your fellow players. Shannon Stott helps you lean in to showing up fully as yourself in scenes to connect with your audience, enrich your characters and use what is in you to have a more dynamic stage experience.
