Unscrewed Theater: a month of special shows

From: Unscrewed Theater <UnscrewedTheater@gmail.com>
Date: Fri, Nov 29, 2019 at 9:18 AM
Subject: Happy Everything from Chris!

December 2019

We have a month of special shows (in addition to our regularly scheduled fun) – aimed at doing just that. Consider yourself personally invited to come on down for a month of celebrating the end of a decade, and the dawn of 2020.

We'll have our regular shows, of course. Family friendly improv comedy every Friday & Saturday at 7:30. An improvised musical created from your suggestions by From The Top at 9pm on the 7th. Improv just for kids hits the stage in the Unscrewed Family Hour at 6pm on the 14th. UNCENSORED improv at 9pm on the 14th & 28th. The House Team Double Feature at 9pm on the 21st features two teams for the price of one. OH, and don't forget the FREE ADMISSION Free Form shows at 9pm on the 13th and 27th.  We really do have something for everyone.

Here's a calendar to make it easier.

But wait. There's MORE!

Our first special event is the performance of the Tanque Verde Valley Singers at 8:30pm at our First Friday Open House on the Friday the 6th. Admission is free with your ticket stub from the 7:30 family friendly show. I predict some free holiday food & drink to accompany the festivities and singing!

Starting that same weekend, "Elves Gone Bad" returns for its 3rd year of December weekend matinees designed just for the youngsters in your life. Six interactive performances at 1pm over three weekends - designed to make magical holiday memories for everyone. We've got Santa, elves, and pirates to delight and inspire the young ones who are invited to get on stage and be part of the action. Seating is limited, so advance tickets are suggested.

We're celebrating Friday the 13th with a debut of a new member of our Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed Troupe. John Reimann's humor and quick wit will prove that Friday the 13th is indeed your lucky day.

Another special annual event happens on Friday the 20th.  In order to celebrate the season, and all of our improvisors, our 7:30 show will feature ALL of the Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed players. So no matter who's your favorite, they'll be on stage. Ok, maybe not all at once.

And no December is complete without a New Year's Eve show – even if it isn't on New Year's Eve. Or at midnight. We'll have our Unscrewed Style UNCENSORED New Year's Eve show on Saturday the 28th at 9:00. After all, it's midnight somewhere!  Get a Laughing Pass and you can make a whole night of it - two shows for ONLY TEN BUCKS!

As we head into the new year, and a new decade, let me tell you again how much we appreciate your support. And not just those of you in Tucson. Without the help of our local improv family and those spread across the country, we'd never be headed into our SEVENTH YEAR of creating a home for improv comedy.  Yes, mark your calendars now!  Come January, we'll celebrate our anniversary in true unscrewed style.  Keep your eye's peeled.

Happy Everything.
I mean it.

Executive Director,
Unscrewed Theater.

Cirque Roots is back again this year with our Winter Solstice experience with fire dancing, acrobatics, aerial, & stilt dance. We cant wait to share this beautiful performance with all of YOU!

This annual community-style event will be taking place during sunset overlooking the beautiful Catalina mountains. We encourage patrons to bring their own chairs and blankets as they take in the entertainment.

This holiday season, come share this experience with us as we celebrate the Winter Solstice passage of the sun as it dips to its lowest point in our Sonoran Desert sky, the shortest day and longest night. Witness clever choreography with 20 performers offering fire dancing, acrobatics, aerial, and stilt dance. This unique time of year has become important on many levels, both culturally and physically. Our ancestors have attached spiritual and social meaning to the solstice, to this holiday season, and to the northern winter. We dedicate this dance to our ancestors, listen to their stories, and take this joyous opportunity to celebrate this special place in Earth’s orbit.

Cirque Roots Productions & Studio is a grassroots artist collective that was founded in 2011 with a vision to inspire the community to create and play through movement and dance. Based in an 1910's adobe warehouse in downtown Tucson located near Dunbar Springs and Barrio Anita, Cirque Roots created a space for the community to engage in circus inspired arts and to co- create in the community through conscious events and workshops. The Cirque Roots performance crew has been performing collectively over the past six years, created 5 original productions, and was nominated for a 2015 Lumies Award: Best Arts Organization.
