Actors/Performers needed for a New Haunted House at the Old Bum Steer!

We at Scared Stuff Entertainment, LLC (SSE) are dedicated to bringing high quality horror themed events to Tucson.  EEW is a new entertainment company in Tucson and our first event will be "Night Terrorz" - a big haunt with a twist.

The basics:  We have developed a story-line that will invite guests into it and allow them to follow the "dreams" of the main character.  The dreams will consist of several different venues throughout the maze of our building, mixing conventional, bizarre, traditional and high tech effects.  The scenery is of a theater quality set to create a mood within the haunts.  Gags/effects are designed to creep out, scare and disorient guests.  The entire trip through the Night Terrorz haunt will last approximately 12-15 minutes.

Who we need:  Various actors/performers are needed with all types of looks and skills.  We do have a cast of characters already, but many people will be needed to fill all roles for all nights.

If interested, please contact Jim Cates at jctnt2@gmail.com

Cast and Crew Call, Nine Buddhas Pictures competing in the October 6-7 IFP 24 Hour Film Challenge.

From: Chris [mailto:ninebuddhas@gmail.com]
Sent: Friday, September 28, 2012 1:33 AM
Subject: Carolyn Is In Trouble

Carolyn (who works at a jewelry store) and her boyfriend, Simon, decide to go on vacation with Michelle (Carolyn's boss at the jewelry store) and Michelle's husband, John. It is never a good idea to go on vacation with your boss.

And, as it turns out, on the first night, John makes a crude pass at Carolyn (men are such pigs). Carolyn says no, not so much because it would be wrong to cheat on her boyfriend, but because she thinks John's a jerk. (It is much easier to be good when the guy is who is hitting on you is a jerk.)

But when Michelle goes back to the hotel room she is sharing with Simon, she sees Michelle sneaking out and assumes that Michelle and Simon have -- well -- been bad. Blinded by jealousy, Carolyn does an about face and offers herself up to John (who is a jerk, and now is confused, but also is happy to oblige). (Men are so predictable.)

After Carolyn has had sexual congress with John (who she doesn't even like), she again goes back to her hotel room - this time to confront Simon who has well -- apparently -- been bad. But before she can confront him, Simon proposes (marriage that is) and Carolyn figures out that Michelle (the jewelry store manager) was in their room to sneak an engagement ring to Simon, not to help Simon practice honeymoon gymnastics. Whoops.

Carolyn doesn't know what to do. But John is not so indecisive. The next time John gets a chance, he proposes more of what he seems to think is a good thing and a sure thing. He becomes even more confused when Carolyn responds to his proposal with outrage. When Carolyn attempts to seek refuge with her friend Michelle, Michelle tells Carolyn that she thinks John is cheating on her -- she just doesn't know with whom.

Can you write an ending that resolves Carolyn's predicament? Or maybe you think you can develop an entirely new story that is much better than this one? If you can do it within the next week or so -- either would be great.

Nine Buddhas Pictures is competing in the October 6-7 IFP 24 Hour Film Challenge.

We begin filming here in Tucson at noon on Saturday October 6 and turn in our finished film at noon on Sunday October 7.

We have an established group and professional, broadcast quality equipment, but if you are interesting in joining our group for this challenge we are looking for some additional actors and a couple of new production team members.

If you are interested, let us know what role or roles you are interested in (e.g., actor or camera operator or editor or graphic artist or hair and make up or . . .) and let us know if you have any conflicts on Sunday October 6 and or Sunday October 7. Attach resumes and head shots as applicable if you have them.

There's no monetary compensation, but you will get a digital copy of the film and you will be well fed throughout the week end.

Let me know if you want in!

Chris

Casting call for a long short film

From: jim biggers [mailto:jimbobiggers@msn.com]
Sent: Thursday, September 27, 2012 6:01 PM
Subject: casting call

REPLY TO: jbomatic@excite.com

This is a casting call for a long short film. Extremely tight budget. In other words we can afford to feed you and provide beverages. If you are trying to build your portfolio this is a good opportunity for you.  We will be shooting multi camera and in HD. Copies will be provided to all cast.

This is a story about a young girl who is caring for her brain damaged and wheel chair bound brother.  Her mother prostitutes to barley pay any bills. The girl has a plan to get out of the sad situation of their lives, but keeps running into bad luck. There are a few scenes where everyone in the boys’ life is at a house party, but the costumes are Steam punk. So if you have wardrobe in the steam punk fashion that would be helpful.

The shooting schedule is not complete and we still haven’t gotten two of the locations.

Cast

·         Susan. Lead female. Needs to look about 16 yo.

·         Jimmer. Lead male. Must look between 15 and 19. Must be able to actl like a person with brain damage as well as a normal male.

·         Mother.  Lead female. This person is an absolute narcissist and a nasty person.

·         Mothers boyfriend. Male semi lead. This person is an abusive male character.

·         Man in the desert. Average height and weight. A BALDING person would work here.

·         CPS worker. Male or female.

·         Recycle store person: Male or female.

·         Water company person. Male or female.

·         Mothers john. Male.

·         Waitress. Female.

·         Sheriff. Male of female.

There are extras in some of the scenes.

Email me at jbomatic@excite.com and put the word casting in the heading.

UA’s Arizona Repertory Theatre presents Avenue Q
Music & Lyrics by Robert Lopez & Jeff Marx, Book by Jeff Whitty,
directed by Rob Gretta,
featuring UA, BFA 2001 Musical Theatre alum, Michelle Lane, as director of puppetry

This madcap, Sesame Street-like satire about young adulthood revolves around a college graduate named Princeton, who moves into his first apartment – the only one he can afford – on Avenue Q. As they navigate friendship, love and work, Princeton and his motley neighbors try to find their purpose in life. No subject is taboo in this comedy, where jokes range from racism to sexuality, but this “Triple Crown,” Tony Award-winning musical, featuring actors with puppets, isn’t just risqué. It also makes us recognize that all is fleeting and we must endure life’s pains and appreciate its joys. (Adult themes and profanity.)

*BONUS: See UA alum Michelle Lane on The Morning Blend Tuesday, October 2nd, on KGUN-9 from 11am to noon with cast lead, Michael Calvoni (Princeton) & their puppets! Michelle was part of the original Las Vegas cast of Avenue Q that also played on Broadway.
