Old Pueblo Playwrights New Play Festival
Live and In-Person at the Tucson Mall!

TUCSON, ARIZ.—Oct. 12, 2022—Old Pueblo Playwrights' Annual New Play Festival is back, bringing thought-provoking literary theatre to the Tucson Mall this November.
"For the first time in more than 30 years, the festival will be held in the Mall's Arizona Rose Theatre," said OPP President John Vornholt.
"The 2022 Festival is OPP's first in-person since the pandemic began. As in past years, we are delighted to showcase Tucson's amazing wealth of local talent with staged readings of original works by local actors."
"We were grateful to be able to Zoom our plays last year, but nothing beats a live performance for both audiences and playwrights. Our authors are hungry for the valuable feedback they gain from audience response and post-performance talkbacks."
Each of the ten plays in OPP's 2022 peer-reviewed lineup is performed just once, script in hand, with minimal blocking, props, set pieces, and lighting.
"Please join us in laughing, crying, and celebrating the return of live theatre to Tucson," said Vornholt. The best-selling author, actor, playwright, director, screenwriter, and journalist is directing "Zoom Intervention," a one-act about Covid by OPP Festival Coordinator David Zinke, a veteran Tucson actor who has added playwriting to his resume.
