About the Production
|
Judy has made an extraordinary choice: in the 21st century, she has reinvented herself as the perfect 1950s housewife. Cocktail dresses. Impeccable housekeeping. Dinner on the table when Johnny arrives home. Everything pristine, everything in its place.
But beneath the gingham and the gleaming appliances, the pressure of maintaining a vintage fantasy in a thoroughly modern world is beginning to crack. When the bills pile up and the outside world forces its way in, Judy must confront the real cost of living in an idealized past — and what she may have sacrificed to get there.
Funny, sharp, and unexpectedly poignant, Home, I'm Darling is a dazzling exploration of identity, marriage, nostalgia, and the gap between the life we curate and the life we actually live. A captivating, thought-provoking ride where appearances can be deceiving and the search for happiness takes surprising turns.
Critical response to the original production: "Beautifully observed… Wade's gifts as a satirist are beyond doubt." — Evening Standard
"An amusing, affecting, inspiring evening of soft gingham and hard truths." — The Times
