Tucson -- The Beowulf Alley Theatre Company is tickled to present "Comedy,
Arizona," an evening of improvisational comedy with LaughingStock Comedy
Company beginning the Tuesday after Christmas and running through New Years
night 2006. All Shows are at 7:30 pm with two shows New Years Eve at 7:30
and 10 pm. Tickets are $15 and are available online at
http://beowulfalley.org/html/tickets.html and at the Beowulf Alley Theatre
box office by calling 520-882-0555. The Beowulf Alley Theatre is located at
11 South Sixth Avenue at Broadway in Tucson, Arizona.
LaughingStock Comedy Company is a touring company based in Tucson. Not a
club, they spend the majority of their time performing customized comedy
shows for corporate and association special events around the country, with
a few forays into Canada, Mexico and - most recently - Germany.
"These rare public appearances are a joy to perform because we are
unfettered by the constraints of our corporate work," according to Dean
Steeves, performing partner at LaughingStock. "We try to do a show in Tucson
annually, but so far we've only been able to do it every other year. We
really look forward to creating these wide-open, no-holds-barred comedy
improv shows."
Improvisational comedy is immediate and exciting. The shows are fresh,
original scenes based on audience input. The audience fills in the details
of this distinctive comedy by volunteering a variety of suggestions
throughout the performance - emotions, objects, activities, occupations,
locations, for example - and becomes part of the fun as they watch their
ideas mushroom into comedy mayhem.
"We're really looking forward to performing in the new Beowulf space," says
Steeves. "It's perfect for our kind of intimate relationship with the
audience. LaughingStock's players are seasoned, funny and looking forward to
creating big fun with the hometown crowd again."
