Thank you to all of the dancers who joined us this weekend at our first audition for Ballet Tucson's The Nutcracker in partnership with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. Everyone did a wonderful job and we can't wait to see them onstage!
Double your artistic fun this September!
Join us for two exciting events: Steps Forward and Tutus & Tea
Steps Forward
Loved by our artists and audiences alike, Steps Forward is a choreographers' showcase that features a batch of all new works, created by current Ballet Tucson company members for their fellow dancers. At the end of this one-night-only collection of premieres, audience members have the opportunity to vote for their favorite, which will receive an encore presentation on the Ballet Tucson main stage later in the season! This program offers vital career development and transition support for our dancers, allowing them to explore their creativity and their artistic potential as a choreographer. After the show you will hear from the choreographers themselves in a special Q&A moderated by Artistic Director Margaret Mullin.
Tutus & Tea at Himaya Garden
Enjoy an evening of ballet and art under the Tucson Sky at the beautiful Himaya Garden. Our event kicks off with tea and tasty treats from Himaya Garden and a local artisan's market, including creations from our community partners The Drawing Studio. At 7pm four Ballet Tucson leading dancers will perform a selection of solos and duets that highlight our diverse repertoire. You will enjoy The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from our award-winning production of The Nutcracker in partnership with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and the beautiful solo The Dying Swan, made famous by legendary ballerina Anna Pavlova. We will also share three original Pas de Deuxs choreographed by Artistic Director Margaret Mullin: Clair de Lune Pas de Deux, Tango's Embrace, and a sneak peek excerpt from an upcoming world premiere work in collaboration with Tohono Chul Gardens titled Desert Dweller.
Performing dancers: Principal dancers Madeleine Kuebler and Edward Oyarce-Solomon. Soloist dancers Sarah Wilkerson and Duncan Barlow
