In these uncertain times our schools have been heavily impacted – especially the theatre departments, many of whom have been forced to cancel shows. As a result, the aspiring actors in our community have been unable to perform. We feel that NOW, more than ever, these students need an outlet to express themselves artistically, and recognition for all that they have achieved.
Please join us in recognizing the work that has been done in Southern Arizona by our schools and students during the 2019-20 school year! Using innovative online tools, the Monte Awards will CONTINUE to honor the accomplishments of Southern Arizona schools and students this year. Over 30 of our region's top musical theatre students will participate in this intensive educational program and compete for the title of the Monte Awards Best Actor and Best Actress. The program will culminate in a FREE live-stream event on Saturday, May 16th at 6:30 pm.
Our nation's healthcare crisis has heavily impacted local students. Imagine your senior year without prom and graduation. Imagine losing the ability to visit with your friends and run across the finish line with your fellow track team members. Imagine finally getting a lead role and rehearsing for weeks on a school theatre production, only to have it cancelled.
Now in our seventh year, the Monte Awards program is the culmination of a year of work for aspiring musical theatre actors. Produced by Arts Express in partnership with Broadway in Tucson, this program is the Southern Arizona division of the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (aka The Jimmy Awards).
NOW MORE THAN EVER, STUDENTS NEED AN OUTLET TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES ARTISTICALLY, AND RECOGNITION FOR ALL THAT THEY HAVE ACHIEVED.
