Updated Covid Procedures

Updated Covid Procedures

There are several small changes, please read through to make sure you are familiar with them. The main changes I want to point out is that we are going to attempt some larger groups. After having camp, it seems totally possible and safe to have 10-15 people in the space, still spread out and our ventilation is such that we feel comfortable with this.

We are also planning to go to 24 hours resting for silks. It just does not seem like that type of surface transmission is the way Covid is passing.

That said, we want to hear from you! If any of this does not feel safe to you please let us know. Our top priority is your safety.

- Sick students and teachers must stay home! If someone you live with or have contact with is sick, please stay home.

- Masks: Everyone (students, teachers, parents, anyone entering the space) must wear a mask at all times. Anyone training and using aerial apparatus should use a mask that hooks behind their ears, rather than ties or wraps all the way around the back of their head to prevent the possibility that it could wrap around the neck. We may consider allowing adult groups that are all vaccinated and have no overlap with kids groups to loosen wearing their masks when they are settled at their apparatus. This will be on a very limited basis and only apply to certain classes. If it applies to your class someone will talk to you. Either way, you will be required to wear a mask until you are at your mat/apparatus area.

- Enter through the back door (no doorknob). Teachers sign in students, rather than each student signing in themself. Please respect the entrance ramp spacing markers when entering and wait to be invited in by a teacher to proceed off the last marker. If all the markers are full, please wait in your car until the line moves forward and opens up a space in line.

-All payments must be made online in advance.

-Please bring as few extra people to the studio as possible (siblings etc). Youth students should be accompanied by no more than one person if at all possible and adults should not be accompanied by extra people. if a parent must stay in the space for the duration of a child's lesson, they must sit in chairs along the west wall of the studio. We will not continue to sanitize the chairs because what we now know about surface transmission suggests this is not a concern. We will leave wipes available so that people can wipe their chairs before sitting if they desire to do so. If you are sitting on the side, your chair must be spaced out from other waiting parents on the green Xs and not all clumped by the door.

-Students must bring all the water they need for the duration of the time they are at the studio, there is no refilling for now.

-If you have your own yoga blocks, straps, juggling balls etc bring your own stuff to use and take it home with you. Personal items should be limited and kept on students' tumbling mat area.

-Wash hands: First thing upon arrival. Immediately after finishing on apparatus. Between each activity (ex. juggling and tightrope). Hands should be washed after training before cleaning your mat and then again after cleaning your mat before leaving.

-Mats are sanitized immediately after each use by a participant or teacher immediately after use. Mats are washed with soap and water 1x a week to remove any cleaner film.

-Each person is assigned one tumbling mat for the full time they are in the studio. Once a student is settled in their mat area they should remain there for the duration of their training time.

-Each person is assigned one person to an apparatus.

-Silks: currently we are letting the silks "rest" for 24 hours between users based on current research of how long the virus survives on surfaces.

-Bars and Lyra are sprayed with alcohol after each use.

-Each juggling prop or stretching aid (aka yoga block) etc is sanitized after each use either with cleaner or Clorox wipe.

-Floors: bleach mop concrete and marley at least once a week, more often if used heavily. Clean after marley is used for dance, stretching, rolling on floor etc.

-Walls: (used for handstands etc.) Each student is assigned a spot, which is cleaned after each use.

-Bathroom: Wipe down high touch areas between classes or after sign in, lunch, snacks and the end of the day during camp. Deep clean once a day during camps to once a week during regular class depending on traffic.

- There will be a 5-10 minute gap between classes to prevent overlap. Students should arrive exactly at the time they are scheduled to (not early), to prevent crowds at the door.

-Aerial points are already six feet apart, in general we use every other point to keep students at least 12 feet apart.

-Spotting: We are returning to limited hands-on spotting for fully vaccinated teachers.

-Only teachers touch light switches, cooler switches, new skill sheets etc. Only Annie and Katherine touch scaffolding and aerial pulleys.

-Balance apparatus: Only students that can already confidently use the globe and rola bola are permitted to do so. Those will be cleaned after use and not shared between students without being cleaned in between. Tightrope can be used by older students with a crash pad on each side, but with no hand to hand spotting.

With the new CDC guidelines out recently, they are encouraging everyone to wear masks while indoors and in small spaces, which our theater is.  As of me writing this, we haven't received guidance from the Pima County Health Department or the City of Tucson on mask mandates.  So we are going to hold with our current policy that if you are vaccinated you don't need to wear a mask, if you are unvaccinated you are required to wear a mask.  I have been watching case counts, and trying to keep to date on the local situation.  We will hold with this plan for the weekend, and check this email for an update next week.

The nominations for the Tucson Weekly's Best Of are moving into round two, and we are honored to be nominated in the category of Best Comedy Night!  Please spend a few minutes going through the voting process which you can access here, and vote for us.  It would be an honor to represent Tucson as the Best Comedy night as we have been working hard week in and week out to bring the best environment and the best content to Tucson.  Thank you for the support!

Start your comedy journey this summer in the middle of an incredible monsoon in Stand Up 101, starting Saturday at 10:30am.  The class runs for six week with Rory Monserat, and is the perfect place to learn comedy, practice public speaking, and have a lot of fun!  Register today, and fill the rest of your summer with a deluge of laughs!

I am so excited for Your Favorite Movie Improvised to make the transition form the Zoom, to the stage, live and in person!  It should be a super fun show, and I know they have been working hard to bring you the full movie theater experience, improvised.  So come check out the show Friday at 7:30pm where our performers will improvise your favorite movie, even if they've never seen it before!
