Summer's here!

Looks like the triple digits are here to stay. 😅

Time to start our standard Tucson summertime activities – digging out the flip flops, filling up the kiddie pool, and fighting over that last parking spot under the teeny little tree at the grocery store. All to avoid the joys of scorched hands & thighs and melting mascara when you climb back into your 150-degree car. There's a reason 50% of the vehicles in town are white, right?

Let's stay cool inside together this month – we've planned a pretty darn fabulous June for you.

We're starting the month off with a bang THIS WEEKEND! With TWO different classes starting THIS SATURDAY, June 4th. Our beginning Improv Basics for newbies and MUSICAL Improv for those of you with a little bit of improv cred under your belt.

As an aside, if you have a LOT of improv experience and are interested in performing on our stage, Comic Chaos is holding open auditions this Sunday at 4pm. If you've missed Comic Chaos somehow, they are Tucson's premiere comic book improv troupe and the host of our monthly Unscrewed Family Hour. This month, their show is on Saturday 6/18 @ 6pm. Mark your calendars and get details on the audition here.

If you still aren't sure whether you want to TRY improv instead of just watch, we still offer two versions of our FREE Improv Drop-in class every Monday. I host the in-person version in our Training Center next to the theater, and Jon Benda is your Zoom host for the online version. Check it out here.

Even tho June is a short month (Remember? 30 days has September. . . .), we've still got lots o' shows for you.

Family-friendly every Friday & Saturday @ 7:30 pm, as always. "From The Top" makes magic with their improvised musical on Friday, 6/3, and the recently-turned-twenty-year-old "Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed" will bring their short-form funny for the other SEVEN family-friendly shows this month.

And you know what? Every single show is different. Because every audience is different, and we base all our games on YOUR suggestions. Just last Friday, we solved the age-old debate between garlic-scented air freshener and pyramids right on our stage. Because you asked us to.

Prefer improv comedy without the filters? We've got three of those shows this month. Our Unscrewed Fridays After Dark Variety show is slated for Friday 6/10 @ 9:00 pm. This show has proven to be wildly popular and features improv comedy, stand-up, videos, and who knows what else. The only thing we DO know is that you should leave the kids at home for this one. 🤭

Later that same weekend, "Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed" and "The Big Daddies" will feature ANOTHER UNCENSORED show at 9:00pm on Saturday 6/11. With a mix of long AND short-form improv, this will please all lovers of spicy improv comedy.

But I've buried the lead here. On Saturday, 6/25, we've got our one-of-a-kind "Coming Unscrewed for PRIDE" show featuring players from ALL our house teams, along with SPECIAL GUESTS from Tucson's LGBTQ+ community. We'll be joined by Miss Nature (part of Virtual AZ Pride and Drag Story Hour) and others for an UNCENSORED improvised evening of fun, frivolity, and frolics! We're celebrating Pride Month and the 25th Anniversary of SAAF (Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation)!

In fact, SAAF is our charity of choice this month. They've been serving our community for 25 years, and we're giving back by donating all of our in-person donations to their worthy cause.

If you'd like to share some of your net worth with us here at Unscrewed Theater, first, I'll say I'm so very grateful. It's been a long couple of years with lower-than-usual attendance, and any little bit helps us keep our doors open.
