These ten shows are certain to delight as they celebrate friendship, uplift us with hilarious wit, bring classic stories to life, and remind us how good it feels to be part of the roar of the crowd. OCTOBER 28 - NOVEMBER 12, 2023

THE GIRL WHO SWALLOWED A CACTUS

8-year-old Sheila and her pack of pals aren't going to let the summer

heat wear them down. The adventurers find themselves deep in the desert, facing The Council of Howls, The Sting Brigade, The Death

Cactus, and much more. It's a whirlwind adventure about how we affect the environment and the animals with whom we share the planet. This original play will captivate and inspire audiences of all ages with the power of memory and imagination.

In this delightful, laugh-a-minute comedy, four unique Southern women, all needing to escape the sameness of their day-to-day routines, are drawn together by Fate—and an impromptu happy hour—and decide it's high time to reclaim the enthusiasm for life they've lost through the years. Over months filled with laughter, hilarious misadventures, and the occasional liquid refreshment, these middle-aged women successfully bond and find the confidence to jumpstart their new lives. Together, they discover lasting friendships and a renewed determination to live in

the moment—and most importantly, realize it's never too late to make

THE WAIT- SOLD OUT!

His one-man-physical comedy show "The Wait" has traveled all around the world to various fringe festivals and theatres, winning awards like "Best Solo Show" (Tucson Fringe 2018), "Staff Pick" (2018 Minnesota Fringe), & "Cultural Exchange Award" (2018 San Diego Fringe Festival). If you've seen "The Wait" (formerly known as "Abeyance") before, you'll be surprised to see a new and improved action-packed, live-sound effect, imaginative extravaganza. Come and join Tyler as he waits.

DECEMBER 2 & 3, 2023

TYLER AND THE VERY VERY VERY BIG MAGIC BOOK

An original physical comedy by Tyler West and Richard Gremel

On the Children's Theatre Stage

 

LTW's new janitor, Tyler, has just discovered The Very Very Very Big Magic Book of many many many stories. Watch as he gets sucked inside the book and dive into some of your favorite stories like Jack & the Beanstalk, The Princess and the Frog, King Arthur, and more! This is a highly imaginative physical comedy show meant for all ages! It's a mixture of physical comedy, mime, live sound effects, projections, costumes, and a whole lot of laughs.

THE REALISTIC JONESES

twist with the arrival of new neighbors John and Pony. The newfound friendship is invigorating, but picturesque fantasies soon collide with the flaws of reality. Brace yourself for a rollercoaster of laughter and introspection as the Joneses' routine suburban lives are playfully uprooted, the boundaries of friendship and flirtation blur in hilarious and thought-provoking ways.

LA BELLA AND THE BEAST

A new adaptation of the classic story that celebrates friendship, family,

and joining forces with unlikely characters in order to overcome the

impossible. Bella and her Nana encounter a ridiculous prince who uses his strength to steal the voice of Bella's Nana. They summon a very

silly fairy who transforms the prince but who accidentally creates other

hilarious problems that literally tie them together. The unexpected

group must work together and learn how to match their strengths and

MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS

Selznick's office to rewrite the screenplay for what would become

1939's Gone with the Wind. With equally clever and profound writing,

playwright Ron Hutchinson creates a captivating fantasy of what it may have been like to be a fly on the wall during these historic moments of American pop culture.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

APRIL 5 -14, 2024

THE BIG DIPPER: CALENDAR,

COMPASS, AND CLOCK

Co-presented by The Red Herring Puppets. Created by Lisa Sturz/Red Herring Puppets

On the Children's Theatre Stage

 

What is the most easily recognizable star pattern in the sky? Discover

the mystery and science of the Big Dipper through stories from the

ancient Chinese, Micmac Indians, Greek, and Aztec cultures, and the

Southern slaves following the "drinkin gourd" to freedom. Combining skillfully crafted marionettes and shadow puppets, we see how the stars can be used to tell time, track the seasons, and find your way at night.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

APRIL 19 - MAY 12, 2024

THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED

Step behind the curtain hiding Hollywood's biggest secrets with actor Mitchell Green, a rising star who would be well on his way to the A-list if his agent, Diane, could manage to keep him in the closet. Skilled in persuasion and negotiation, Diane ruthlessly works to control Mitchell's image as he gallivants around Hollywood with Alex, an

adorable drifter. Prepare for an entertaining journey that unravels the comedic underbelly behind the glitz and glamour and will leave you roaring with laughter!

5th ANNUAL YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS OF

TUCSON

On the Children's Theatre Stage

 

This acclaimed program encourages students from all over our community to write and submit their short stories. Each top young

playwright is teamed up with one of LTW's seasoned playwrights/

directors to help get their plays from scripts to the stage. Local

talented students audition, perform, and run the tech for all of the

shows. With the help of LTW's Children's Theatre leaders, these

students take the stage and give a voice to the stories they want

everyone to hear. These performances are a great way to see the amazing talent of our Tucson youth. Only 2 performances. Space is limited!
