THE SWAMP IS COMING TO THE DESERT

"Shrek The Musical" opens October 26

Over fifty talented youth from Tucson will be hitting the stage in CYT Tucson's production of "Shrek The Musical". The show will run from October 26 to October 28. Students ages 8 to eighteen will bring the beloved Dreamworks characters to life at Pima Community College's Center for the Arts.

 

To bring this Tony award-winning show to life, CYT Tucson's volunteers have been working tirelessly since August. In this family-friendly production, Shrek and friends will tell a story of bravery, love, and acceptance.

"This show brings to the stage characters that everyone already loves, but shows them in a new and endearing light," said Therese Lester, the president of the CYT Tucson board of directors.

Several of the cast members from "Shrek The Musical" will be available for a meet and greet after each performance. The public is encouraged to come dressed as a character from "Shrek", and enjoy the concessions offered at each show.

"Shrek The Musical" will run from Friday, October 26, to Sunday, October 28 at Pima Community College's Center for the Arts. There will be two casts of students performing over four show times. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting www.cyttucson.org/shows/shrek/4.

 

CYT Tucson is a non-profit youth theater serving the greater area of southern Arizona. CYT Tucson is a two-time winner of the Arizona Daily Star's Reader's Choice Award for Best Youth Theater. Since 2005 the volunteers at CYT Tucson have put on over fifty productions, using the performing arts to bring families together on and off stage.
