In the midst of uncertain times, Winding Road Theater Ensemble is pleased to announce Eight 10s Online!

A letter from the Artistic Director:

First of all, please excuse our recent radio silence! The ensemble has been hard at work behind the scenes trying to envision a safe and healthy model for our upcoming season. As you can imagine, this has proved a slippery target.

When the pandemic necessitated the closure of Women of Lockerbie and then the postponement of Eight 10s in Tucson, we had just completed five days of season auditions. The 2020/2021 season was set, the casts and directors were in place, and we were days away from announcing the season and opening season ticket sales.

In the weeks since, every day brings new information about Covid 19 and not much of it is good. Ultimately, we realized that the only way to proceed safely is to put together an all-digital season, with every show performed and streamed online. We're still assembling that season-obtaining streaming rights and reshuffling our cast members-but you'll be hearing from us soon about Winding Road's 12th season.

In the meantime, we reached out to our 2020 Eight 10s in Tucson playwrights and they graciously agreed to allow us to produce the entire festival online! Using Zoom video-conference technology, Eight 10s in Tucson Online is currently in rehearsal, employing distancing measures to ensure everyone's safety. All cast members and directors are rehearsing from their own homes; no two artists are ever in the same space. If all goes as projected, Eight 10s Online will open in June 2020 via Winding Road's own YouTube channel.

As a bonus, we'll be streaming the in-house videos of our inaugural Eight 10s in Tucson play festival from the spring of 2019. Our thanks go out to each of last seasons' playwrights, who donated the streaming rights for these plays for the next few weeks. We're hard at work editing and uploading those videos but go ahead and subscribe to our new YouTube channel!

None of us knows what the future holds, but rest assured that Winding Road intends to have its place in that future. The world needs theater, and theater needs the world. I hope you'll consider supporting Winding Road at this time, both by viewing our plays and by donating as you are able.

Wishing you safe and healthy days, until we meet again,

Maria Caprile
