We are one week out from the Tucson Comedy Arts Festival! We will be hosting the event November 9th-13th, and we have ten great shows coming your way with acts from Tucson, Phoenix, Flagstaff, Utah, Chicago, and New York City. Get complete access to the festival through purchasing an all access pass for just $20, or buy individual show tickets on the festival webpage. TCAF was fun last year, but it was a weird feeling to run an event from my couch over Zoom. So many times we said to each other we can't wait to be back in person next year, and honestly I totally can't wait!
We also have an amazing line up of workshops. We wanted to find some way to bring different types of workshops into the event, and things that were a bit smaller and group focused. So we have the Deconstruction taught by Jacque Arend which will run over two days, Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon with a showcase during the festival Saturday night. This is a deeper format to learn and run, and I am so excited to see what comes to fruition after this. On Saturday we have a full day workshop on the Monoscene with Wendy Penrod who is a founder of OTC Comedy in Cedar City Utah and the current Artistic Director. Wendy co-founded both the Red Rocks Improv Festival and Ye Olde Improv Competition. The Monoscene will also have a showcase show on the Saturday of the festival. Last but not least we have Jose Gonzalez from the Torch Theater in Phoenix coming down to teach a workshop on The Power of the Invocation.
While we are all looking forward to next week, we can't forget about this week's show. Two great shows on Thursday night the 201 Showcase and Unformatted and improv open mic. Friday the Jam at 6, Soapbox at 7:30pm and Stand Up at 9pm. Then Saturday we have a mix of four great teams Very Pretzel Episode + #Pursewine + Hanging Chads + Fakespeare at 7:30pm, and the Dating Scene is back taking a swipe at modern dating at 9pm!
