Borderlands Theater is casting a PAID, Two-week development workshop of a new musical. Join us July 12 and July16th through the 27th as we focus on the songs from Anita: The Musical.

Anita by Milta Ortiz, with music by Quetzal Guerrero is a Latinx musical that centers female characters and pays homage to the intermingling of the Southwest borderlands with cumbia, bolero/jazz and pop/R&B fusions. Anita is about the power of joy to create a sense of home and belonging.

The two-week workshop culminates in a public concert sharing on July 27, 2024 directed by Chach Snook, with musical direction by Jon Heras.

The series aims to provide a safe space for people of all identities to share. 'Reading' in the title references astrology and tarot readings: inviting ancestors, spirit and divinity to empower those who step to the mic. THE ASTEROID READINGS, named after some of the asteroids regarded in astrology, began January 2024 in collaboration with Borderlands Theatre.
