The Viewing Room Synopsis and Character Descriptions
Saying goodbye to the dearly departed has never been so funny. The Viewing Room brings a dysfunctional family together at a wake after losing its stern patriarch. It is a peaceful, final goodbye… until the patriarch sits up in his coffin and tries to make amends. This awkward family reunion will leave you laughing in your seats through its timeless themes of reconciliation, family and paying tribute to the deceased.

Rehearsals will be Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays beginning June 17 at
6:00 pm with a holiday break, July 4 - July 9.
Six performances - August 2, 3, 4, and 9, 10, 11.

Two Friday performances at 7:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3:00 pm.

The Characters
Matthew Dumbrosky 40s. Youngest son. Witty and sarcastic. Full of angst. NOTE: The actor is on stage for the entire play.
Chester Dumbrosky 80s. Recently deceased father. Retired military. Frugal. NOTE: The actor will be on stage for the entire play and must not be claustrophobic, as he spends a lot of time in a coffin – with the lid closed for a short time. The actor must also be agile enough to be able to get in and out of the coffin.
Florence Dumbrosky 70s. Mother. Ditzy. Traditionalist. Prone to malapropisms.
Stephen Dumbrosky 50s. Middle son. Former athlete. Somewhat arrogant.
Patti Dumbrosky 40s. Older daughter. Nurse. Has learned to forgive.
Debby Dumbrosky 40s. Younger daughter. Believes herself to be clairvoyant. Outspoken.
Chet Dumbrosky, Jr. 50s. Estranged eldest son. Musician.
Jay Hollerback 40s – 60s. Funeral Home Director. Solemn. Very professional manner, cannot see Chester. NOTE: Can be played by male or female.
