CHARACTER ESSENTIALS - Saturday – 12:00 – 2:45

CHARACTER IN-DEPTH - Monday – 6:30 – 8:30

Classes include Meditation, Psychophysical Conditioning Exercises, Voice and Speech, Dramatic improvisation, Scene Study, Active Text Analysis through Physical Actions, Shakespeare and the Classics, Public Performance Scene Nights

CHARACTER & THE ROLE – SHAKESPEARE & THE GREEKS - Sunday – 6:00 – 8:30  

CLASSICS: Based on the amazing vocal and Neurolinguistic exercises as practiced by the Royal Shakespeare Company. An intense and fun on-your-feet approach to Shakespeare’s language.  Whether you are a complete beginner or advanced classical actor, this unique neurolinguistic approach will have you speaking the exquisite poetry of the Bard naturally and fluently.

Philip G. Bennett, Artistic Director, is internationally recognized as a certified master teacher of the Stanislavsky System of Acting with 50+ years of experience. He holds a BA in Humanities and a graduate Certificate of Mastery from the renowned American Stanislavsky Theatre in New York, where he served as actor, teacher of acting and Assistant Artistic Director to Sonia Moore, émigré actress/director from the Third Studio of the Moscow Art Theatre.

During Mr. Bennett’s years of professional experience, he founded the San Francisco Theatre Academy, with film affiliates in the Bay Area and Hollywood.  He is a recipient of the prestigious Hollywood DramaLogue Award for Best Direction and Debut of a New Company.  Graduate students appear regularly in film and television and are accepted in conservatories and repertory companies in the US and the UK. 

Mr. Bennett’s textbook, written with co-author Prof. Stephanie Daventry French, Experiencing Stanislavsky Today, published by Routledge Academic Publishers, London and New York. Bennett is available for Private Coaching, Lectures and Workshops.
