The Stage Write Workshop, taught by nationally award-winning writer, Nathan Christensen, is offering its first Intro to Playwriting class. Students age 16 to adult are welcome.

The eight-session class will give students a foundation for strong dramatic writing, including:

  • Finding dramatic action in your ideas
  • Developing compelling characters
  • Applying the elements of theatricality
  • Writing for stage vs. film
  • Script formatting and simple computer tools
  • Writing monologues, scenes and 10-minute plays

Classes will be held at 4616 E Fairmount St. (near Swan & Speedway), 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, from June 1 to July 20. During the final class, friends and family may attend and hear the work the class has written.

Tuition is $200 (8 sessions). No additional textbook is required. Class is structured to both support beginners and to help writers with some experience build their writing toolkit.

To register, or for more information, go to stagewriteworkshop.com, or email stagewriteworkshop@gmail.com.
