ALL ABOARD WITH THE ARIZONA THEATRE COMPANY'S BACKSTAGECOACH
The Flinn Foundation sponsors innovative new travel-to-the-theatre program for far-reaching Tucson communities
Generously sponsored by The Flinn Foundation, BackstageCoach is an innovative new travel program that brings you and other members of your community directly to the home of Arizona Theatre Company in the historic Temple of Music and Art in downtown Tucson to witness world class theatre unfold on ATC's stage. Communities that BackstageCoach will serve include Saddlebrooke and Vail on select Saturday 4:00 PM performances.
Guests may ride in style on a luxury bus, enjoy libations and laughter with friends, and be treated to an unforgettable experience in the theatre. Guests will also receive an exclusive personal behind-the-scenes glimpse of the artistry involved in professional theatre. These will include backstage videos featuring interviews with the directors, cast and designers, a live introduction to the show led by a theatre artist, and engaging discussions intended to take you well beyond what you'll see on stage, all while being chauffeured to the theatre. The return home offers the opportunity to participate in a vibrant and illuminating post-show conversation led by ATC staff about the onstage production, while being transported back to your community hassle-free!
"ATC has a reputation for bringing outstanding theatre to Arizona audiences," said Managing Director Mark Cole, "and now with the launch of BackstageCoach it will be known for bringing Arizona audiences to outstanding theatre. Bringing new audience members fully into the experience by providing an insider perspective before arrival at the theatre creates a sense of belonging and anticipation. We make it simple, informative and entertaining to get to a first class Arizona Theatre Company production. Get on the bus, and be a part a new and immersive way to get to the theatre!"
Experience a great American classic or the most recent Tony Award-winning drama with the BackstageCoach. On March 10 see F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby in the timeless portrayal of The Jazz Age that was soon to disappear from the American landscape. On April 21 see Red by John Logan and witness the searing portrait of an artist's ambition and vulnerability as he tries to create a definitive work for an extraordinary setting in a play centered around Mark Rothko, one of the most visionary artists of the 20th century. The Coach departs at 2:00pm for the 4:00pm curtain on either performance day.
Transportation is provided by South of the Border Tours and costs are $12.50 per guest for the BackstageCoach plus the ticket price for the ATC production. Tickets range from $31 to $56.
BackstageCoach is sponsored by generous support from The Flinn Foundation. This grant is designed to deepen the theatre experience by providing unique behind-the-scenes opportunities to far-reaching communities that may not have easy access to ATC's historic venue, one of Tucson's true landmark buildings. It also enhances the valuable and integral roles that arts and culture play in our communities.
