We are thrilled to announce the Fringe 2012 Lineup! Tickets are now on sale at www.tucsonfringe.org or at Antigone Books (4th Ave). Tickets are only $10 or $7 for students and seniors. Group discounts also available. Please email us at tucsonfringe@gmail.com if you are interested in group tickets.

 

The lineup is (drumroll please):

The Starter House
Playwright: Catfish Baruni, Director: Esther Blue Almazán, featuring Meagan Jones, Natalia Alvarado, and Catfish Baruni.

A young man stumbles into an office without any recollection as to how he got there [it was the hallway] or why he's there [because that's where the hallway lead].  As he attempts to unravel the riddle of where he is and what he's doing there, he's faced with many questions, but few answers.  What is the mysterious salesman's commission rate and can it be avoided?  What secrets does the secretary really know?  Where does danger end and love begin?  And just what role does the Ides of March play in all of this?

HAPPENS ALL THE TIME - A newcomer, Kate, joins a terminal cancersupport group and challenges the other patients' faith when she startsasking tough questions.KIDS! - A pair of unconventional mothers and their precocious andhilarious children are having a day at the beach, when they are joinedby a handsome stranger and his child, to whom there is more than meetsthe eye.
IS A PIG'S ASS PORK? - Set in a dystopian matriarchal society somedecades into the future, a rebellious council member visits the lastliving historian for a re-education lesson.

Lethal Fairy Tales
Written by Fish Karma and Kevin Henderson, Performed by Fish Karma and the Love Generation

Lethal Fairy Tales is a song cycle that addresses the plight of those unfortunates who are encumbered by unwonted intelligence and thus feel alone and alienated in modern society. By explicitly following the instructions contained in these songs, however, these afflicted souls can finally throw off the shackles of reason and analysis and thus transform themselves into true Americans.

Numb
Written and Performed by Alison J. Torba

A solo show about a needy bride who after much rejection finds her peace in feeling her feelings, paying undivided loving attention to herself regularly, relying on support from others, and finding a spiritual connection she can feel in her bones through union with her inner children. Transformation is symbolized by the peaceful beauty of the great white egret, a waterbird of devastating beauty and grace. This is a tribute to the adult children recovery movement and shamanic self-knowing.

The Barely Free Baja Spectacular!
Written and Performed by One Gentle Mule

One Gentle Mule, a performance company spontaneously created by local musicians Bryan Sanders, Ryan Alfred, and Katherine Byrnes, presents Bacchanal Vaudeville for this year's Fringe.  This is their show's manifesto: "We shall secrete a concentrated but vast parody spectacle of New Old-Timey music, Fresh Bold-Slimy humor, miracles, vagabonds, politicians, maniacs, psychos, and freakishly good musicians!  There will be no blood! Everything will be up for sale, and nothing shall be sold! We shall insist upon a Free Baja in the way only those from Baja may possibly understand! Fun will be had, and mayhem, and music! There will be no available exclamation points when we are through! And anyone from north of Sierra Vista shall be positively enriched by the unacceptability of the continued Maricopa Sheriff-ness of Massachusetts Joe! Do you dare not participate?"
