TEEN FILM ACTING CAMP
with Steve Anderson, MFA
When: July 9-13 from 9am-4pm (Friday is 'shoot' day and may go until 6pm)
Where: Cabaret Theatre at the Temple of Music & Art, 330 S. Scott Avenue
How to register: To save your spot, simply send Steve an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. You'll receive a confirmation and registration form. Then, complete the registration form and send it in with your fee. Remember, space is limited. :-)
What to bring: Journal, writing utensils, towel, bag lunch. There will be bottled water, fruit, and snacks available as well.
What to wear: Comfortable clothing that is appropriate for movement, stretching, and floor work. As we approach 'shoot day,' we will determine costume needs, which will be simple.
What will we do?
This camp will focus on actor training that allows the actor to find a relaxed, impulsive, focused, and intention-driven state of being...just what the camera loves, and just what will often get you that call-back! We will also explore techniques for building a textured, layered, and authentic performance with particular attention paid to elements of acting such as 'relationship,' 'sense of place,' 'outwardly-directed focus,' 'impulsiveness,' 'listening,' 'connection,' and 'relaxation.'
In the mornings, we'll do a stretch/warm-up & relaxation session, followed by acting exercises and improvisations designed to work on the acting elements mentioned above (and to cut loose a bit). In the afternoons, we will rehearse short written scenes, which will be assigned on day one. We will then shoot the scenes on Friday.
Participants will receive a DVD with footage from the camp.
If you have any questions, please feel free to write or call. I look forward to hearing from you!
All the best,
