Live Theatre Workshop's Etcetera Late-Night Series presents:

"We May Not Have Answers, But We Sure as Hell Have Some Questions" from Chloe Loos January 26-27

(TUCSON—January 16, 2018) —Tucson's newest favorite dramaturg Chloe Loos leads a group of actors—Julian Cardenas, Taylor Hernandez and Alexandra Totillo —through a short play depicting important issues in our community: health and healthcare on January 26 at 10:30 p.m. and January 27 at 7 p.m.

Using Augusto Boal's Forum techniques, the audience will be encouraged to offer suggestions to change the outcome.

"Our future has limitless possibilities. Let's see what kind of a future we can create on stage," says Etcetera Late-Night Series Producer Maryann Green.

Augusto Boal was a Brazilian theatre practitioner who was active from the 1950s through the 1980s. He is best known for his concept and execution of Theatre of The Oppressed, a form of community-based performance that can be used as a tool to understand the situations in which communities find themselves by empowering an audience (which Boal called spect-actors) to become active participants in the performance.

There are many branches in Theatre of the Oppressed including image theatre, invisible theatre, and forum theatre. "We are doing Forum Theatre in this Etcetera show. We will present a piece to our audience of spect-actors, who will be allowed to get involved with the piece and attempt to modify the outcome. A "joker" moderator often leads dialogue about the changes that are made and attempts to find a solution with which the entire audience agrees," says Loos, who will serve as the joker moderator in this show.
